9:00am Wed 6/17 Update: Additional thunderstorms are forecast for this afternoon, some of which could become severe with hail of that could exceed 2" in diameter and damaging winds of 60-70 mph. While non-zero, the threat for a tornado remains quite low and depends on multiple variables lining up just right to occur. The main threat window for storms will be during the early to mid-afternoon hours with storms weakening as we head into the evening. Stay weather aware this afternoon!

There will be several rounds of storms on Wednesday to contend with. The first comes early in the morning, which could bring large hail to parts of north-central Iowa around and shortly after sunrise before they transition to a heavy rain threat. Our attention then turns back towards the I-35 corridor for the early afternoon hours, where a second line of storms could develop and track eastward, bringing with them large hail, damaging winds, and perhaps a tornado threat. Exactly where these storms form and their severity will be driven by how quickly the morning storms can clear. Stay weather aware tomorrow!
