🕓 SNAP Benefits Expire November 1 — Here’s How We Can Help Our Neighbors

A major deadline looms this week: Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits are set to expire November 1. More than 130,000 Iowa households stand to lose their SNAP benefits.

If the government doesn’t act, the effects will ripple through our communities — from grocery stores to families struggling to afford food, rent, and other essentials. SNAP is more than food support; it’s a lifeline that helps people move out of poverty.

But we can all make a difference. 💙 Here’s how:
🥫 Donate to your local food pantry — every bit adds up.
🛒 Organize a food drive at your workplace, school, or church. Check with your local pantry first to learn what items they need most.
🍲 Cook and deliver a meal to a family you know is in need.
🍎 Support local schools by donating extra snacks for kids.
👩‍🍳 Volunteer at community meals.
📞 Call your representatives and urge them to act on food access and public health.

When we look out for one another, we make our whole community stronger.
Let’s make sure no one goes hungry this November. ❤️

New SNAP requirements go into effect November 1, 2025 which may result in families and individuals no longer receiving benefits. Food banks across the country may see an increase in traffic which means an increase in items stocked is needed.

If you would like to donate items, here is a list of regularly distributed items but feel free to donate beyond this list. Please check expiration dates before donating as we do not accept expired product.

🗓🕦 Donation dates and times are Tuesdays & Fridays 9am-10am🕦🗓

If you would like to make a monetary donation, drop off at Home Trust & Savings Bank during regular business hours (food items will not be accepted) or mail check to:
