Good morning,

We are letting the people of Alton, Downs, Natoma, Osborne, and Portis know we will be conducting tornado siren tests at 10am on May 20th, 2026.

Also, going forward, we will conduct tornado siren tests the first Wednesday of every month at 10am.

Please congratulate Lt. Bristol on his retirement from law enforcement. 38 years have come and gone. Thank you for spending some of that here with us. The Department is forever grateful for everything you have done for us, with us, and for the community. We hope you can ease into full retirement in the next few years. Again, thank you so much, you are dearly missed! This is not goodbye, this is, see you at the courthouse!

A FRIENDLY REMINDER FOR OSBORNE COUNTY, WE ARE IN A BURN BAN.
To protect the safety of our community, ALL FIRES are STRICTLY prohibited. It is in place to prevent dangerous situations and ensure everyone’s well-being. The rules are in place and MUST BE followed BY EVERYONE. Violations will be taken seriously. There are NO exceptions.
If and when the ban is lifted there are still rules in place. Those rules are:
Fire MUST NOT be left unattended.
The wind gusts must be Below 15mph.
The wind speed must be below 20mph.
Before fires are started, you MUST call in and be granted approval. It is preferred that Fires are to be done in the morning hours when it is cool outside.

This little lady was found three miles north of Osborne. She’s very sweet and obviously belongs to someone. We have her at the Osborne County Sheriff’s office. 785-346-2001 if you know who she belongs to.

Latest update from www.kandrive.org. All roads in Osborne county are experiencing winter weather conditions. Please stay home and snuggle up indoors. Deputies are specifically warning to stay off C. 388 east of Osborne. It always gets icy and dangerous and today is no exception.

Reports regarding traffic incidents, winter road conditions, traffic cameras, active and planned construction, etc.
