Dec. 3 - there will be a special council meeting so that the council members can hear proposal \ contracts from the local social infrastructure. That includes Main Street, Chamber of Commerce, SHIFT homeless shelter, and the museum. It will be at city hall at 2:00pm.

Do you want to know what is going on and get involved? start here, start now. The council will be creating next years' budget and you can see where they plan on spending money - how much and where.

As I talked to people all over Osceola the past month and heavily in one part the past 3 months, one thing that I heard more than anything else was how high the electric bills are in Osceola. I spent 2 1/2 hours discussing this with Tony Hollis on his Testify podcast.

I wonder if it really is an issue. There has been no systemic change to the process and doubtful that anything serious will ever happen, outside of people leaving town and our population continue to decline.

I listed 9 things that could be done to help individuals reduce their bill. I was glad to see another candidate adopt some of my ideas.

While our rate is relatively low, per Kilowatt (9.75c), the demand or need for electricity is much greater than other places. That has to mean that a lot of energy is wasted or poorly used. If that is the case, we need those houses to have an "energy audit" or they should find a way to procure one. Also, our city could do a lot of things to reduce their energy usage or to offset their use, such as using solar panels on buildings and other energy using devices.

Day 36. You gotta love Osceola.

As I continue to walk over my ward (3), I get the opportunity to talk to a lot of people. Most all of them are really, really good people. Warm smiles, positive energy, happy thoughts, kind consideration... it's the best of humanity. It's wonderful to talk to such people and I am glad they are in my hometown.

You just gotta love Osceola.

The Airport and Utilities Committee meeting today at 2:00pm at City Hall. This is a rare meeting in which the chairman, Tyler Dunegan, will probably attend due to being election time. Come, see what has happened in past meetings and how they are addressing your concerns.

While you are there, ask about the number of previous meetings the past two years - and - what has been done to lower your electrical charges over the past 4 years.
