Sac-Osage Fire lent its grant writing services to Roscoe Volunteer Fire last year and they were awarded a $1000 grant to purchase a thermal imaging camera! The SeekPro 300 allows firefighters to pinpoint hot spots inside of walls/floors/overhead spaces. It speeds up the response and saves lives and property, all while fitting in the palm of your hand.

This was made possible by the MFA Volunteer Fire Grant. Since 2020, MFA and the University of Missouri Extension have teamed up to distribute $236,000 to rural volunteer fire departments across the state. This year, 28 grants totaling $50,000 were awarded to 28 departments across Missouri. Our own Roscoe Fire were one of this years’ winners.

Thanks to Vanessa Coleman for her work as the RVFD board secretary, in providing all the needed info to our grant writer, and thanks to Roscoe Fires Lane Coleman and Paul Hooper for posing for this picture, we know it ‘bout killed ya'll, LOLOLOLOL!

The Missouri Department of Public Safety and Missouri Division of Fire Safety and the Warrior’s Rest Foundation invite Missouri first responders to register to attend a no cost 8-hour MO POST CLEE-certified course "UNDERSTANDING SU***DE IN FIRST RESPONDERS." This is a FREE one-day course offered in four locations around the state in May and June 2026: Springfield, Kansas City, Chesterfield, and Columbia.
The course is designed for first responders who face repeated trauma but must continue to serve without time away. Participants explore the real factors driving su***de risk, including chronic stress, hypervigilance, substance use, and cultural barriers to seeking help. Attendees will learn to respond with confidence and connect others to appropriate care.
