Happy Birthday to Firefighter Caden Theis. Today also marks Caden's 7th year anniversary with Osceola Fire and Rescue as he joined like many of our members on his 18th birthday. Caden is always there to serve, no matter if its trainings, community events or calls, he is one of our young and active members. On Memorial Day Weekend we honor those who have served the Osceola Fire Department for 10 plus years by having a Fire Department marker on their grave and we place a flag into the marker over the weekend. We are almost closing on 3 weeks away for our Annual Wing Feed / Co****le Tournament. Johnny Thorton, Former Bladen Firefighter, Osceola resident and grandfather of Firefighter Garrett Fischer will be beneficiary of this year event. Johnny suffered a fall late last year and the funds will go to offset medical expenses incurred as well as accessibility changes that had to be made to his home. Work continues on the new Tactical Tanker 41. We received more pictures yesterday as they are working on the rear of the truck and the front plumbing mounts as well as the lighting package. One of the upgrades we decided was to have a swivel dump so the truck will be more efficient than the old truck was being able to dump on three side rather than having the danger of backing up to dump.
The truck will have 4 ground sweeps (one each corner) for better water management and better ground coverage.
Truck is hopefully on schedule to be completed late June. Thanks to our Patrons and our Rural Fire Board for this department upgrade! We want to thank Russ Wilson with SG Wilson for the build pictures and continued support on the build.
