Since 1965 Clarke County Conservation Board, with the help of other conservation agencies and community organizations, has acquired and developed four county parks, four wildlife areas, and one timber reserve, making over 800 acres of land available to the residents of Clarke County and general public for outdoor recreation.

Thank you to Marylin Dorland for donating Common Milkweed pods to be used in our prairie areas to help out the Monarch Butterflies. We scorched the silks off of some to be used in some of our seed mixes later and hand broadcasted the rest as you can see in the video.

The Clarke County Conservation Board has partnered up with Premier Polysteel to make getting benches as memorials in the park easier for the public. If you ever wanted to have a memorial for someone, here is your chance. Contact the number or website on the ad and ask about the Clarke County Conservation Board Memorial Benches. These benches will be made of green plastic coated steel set in concrete so they are indestructible. We have picked out the colors so all you have to do is let them know how you want the plaque to read. You pay them directly and they ship the bench to us to be installed. Let me know if you have any questions at 641-342-3960

Future Projects at East Lake.

Campground -
We received grants to build the campground at East Lake and will be getting the funding soon. We are expecting to break ground early spring. The federal government did not release the money in time to start this fall. This campground will have 25 RV sites ( 9 pull through and 16 back in sites) all with electric and water hookups. Also a shower house and dump station.

Trail from East Lake to the Elemenatary School -
we have been working to obtain all the property needed to build a .9 mile trail that will go from the old camp site at East Lake park to the East Elementary School. We have obtained two large grants to make this happen and will be closing on the last property soon. Should be breaking ground eary spring! This will not only allow the public to be able to walk from Oseola to East Lake Park safely but also allow the students at East Elementary to walk to the park for educational program we do at East Lake Park.

My grandson took this picture while we were walking your bike path from east Elementary yesterday.
A big heartfelt thank-you for the wonderful time you showed our little camper, Shelby, this week. In an age where "screen time" seems to be taking over, having fun outside is more important than ever for our kiddos. You all went above and beyond this week. Shelby had so much fun.
Who do I contact about reserving a shelter?
