The “Unearth A Story @ the St. Clair County Library” Summer Reading Program is in full swing at the Main Library in Osceola. Registration at our Lowry City Branch will take place tomorrow, Tuesday, June 2nd. Best of all, this program is open to patrons of all ages and will even feature a special visit from the Dickerson Park Zoo in July!

The deadline to make your goal and/or return “Bookmark Reviews” is Thursday, July 30th. Weekly group meetings for children will begin the week of June 1st as follows: Mondays at the Main Library-Osceola from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesdays at the Lowry City Branch from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m., and Thursday mornings from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Main Library-Osceola. Take home craft kits will be available for pickup for those unable to attend the weekly group meetings. Adults can submit bookmark reviews for a chance to win a prize!

Funding for the Summer Library Program grant is supported by the Institute of Museum and Library Services under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act as administered by the Missouri State Library, a division of the Office of the Secretary of State.

The St. Clair County Library is proud to announce that it was awarded an $8,000 grant for the 2026 Summer Library Program. Funding for the Summer Library Program grants is supported by the Institute of Museum and Library Services under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act as administered by the Missouri State Library, a division of the Office of the Secretary of State.

This year the theme of the Summer Reading Program will be “Unearth A Story @ the St. Clair County Library” and will run from June 1st to August 6th. Best of all, this program is open to patrons of all ages and will even feature a special visit from the Dickerson Park Zoo in July!

Our Seed Library has been very popular again this year! We just replenished the supply this morning at the Main Library in Osceola with a variety of vegetables, herbs, and flowers! Patrons will also find a selection at our Lowry City Branch.

We’re happy to announce that new technology has been installed at the St. Clair County Library!! In October of 2025, it was announced that the St. Clair County Library was awarded a Technology Mini Grant in the amount of $17,719.

The LSTA grant was used to updated technology and technology components at our Lowry City Branch. Items replaced include: seven patron computers, two staff computers, computer software, and a color printer/copier/scanner/fax machine. The new energy efficient all-in-one computers will provide our patrons and staff with the latest technology, increasing the speed and ease with which they can access the Internet, create and save documents, attend online classes, apply for jobs and assistance, file taxes, search Library databases, and post on social media. The new color printer/copier/scanner/fax machine at our Main Library, allows our patrons and staff at that facility to complete tasks using an efficient all-in-one machine. Grant monies were also used to purchase additional WiFi access points for the meeting rooms at both library locations. This project is supported by the Institute of Museum and Library Services under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act as administered by the Missouri State Library, a division of the Office of the Secretary of State.

Don’t forget that our extended WiFi signal is available in the parking spaces directly in front of the Library (at both locations). To use this 24/7 access point, select “SCC Library Parking” and use the password: Books4U! . The St. Clair County Library has a variety of reading glasses available for those in need. You will find a selection at the Main Library in Osceola and at our Lowry City Branch. The Friends of the St. Clair County Library-Osceola Spring Book Sale is almost here!!! The three-day sale will be held Thursday, April 16th and Friday, April 17th between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., and Saturday, April 18th from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.. You will find a HUGE selection of materials to choose from!!

All purchases are made on a donation basis. Proceeds from the book sale help support library programming, collections/databases, and special project needs.
