The Osgood Volunteer Fire Department would like to extend our sincere appreciation to the Ripley County Community Foundation for their continued support of our department and our mission to serve and protect.

In late 2025 and early 2026, OVFD was fortunate to be awarded two grants that allowed us to purchase a new ZOLL AED along with other vital medical equipment to replace several pieces of outdated gear.

We would like to give special thanks to the Ripley County Community Foundation for awarding OVFD a $1,000 Small Grant in their 4th grant cycle, which is being used to purchase AED accessories along with additional EMS equipment and supplies to better protect the residents of Osgood and the surrounding area.

We would also like to thank the Indiana Department of Homeland Security for approving our AED Grant in the amount of $2,500, which helped make the purchase of our new AED possible.

Because of these grants, OVFD was able to upgrade several critical pieces of medical equipment including replacing our Combitubes with modern I-Gel airway devices, adding pelvic slings for our first responders, and replacing our glucometer. These updates ensure that our responders have the tools they need to provide the best possible care during medical emergencies.

Finally, we would like to recognize OVFD member Jason Smith for his time and effort assisting with the grant writing process. His work played a key role in helping secure these funds for our department.

Support like this makes a real difference and allows us to continue improving the services we provide to our community.

Thank you again to the Ripley County Community Foundation, the State of Indiana, and everyone who supports the Osgood Volunteer Fire Department.

🚒 Important Winter Safety Reminder ❄️

As snow removal continues, we kindly remind residents and snow removal contractors to not cover fire hydrants with snow while clearing driveways, sidewalks, and parking lots.

Fire hydrants must remain visible and accessible at all times. In an emergency, every second counts—blocked hydrants can delay first responders and put lives and property at risk.

💧 Adopt a Hydrant
We encourage residents to “adopt” the fire hydrant nearest their home or business by:
• Clearing snow at least 3 feet around the hydrant
• Ensuring a clear path from the street
• Keeping it visible after plowing and snowfall

A few extra minutes can make a life-saving difference for firefighters, EMS, and your neighbors.

Thank you for helping keep our community safe this winter!
Please share this message to help spread awareness.

Santa came early to the station. We can’t wait to see all the children tomorrow Monday the 15th at 6p.

Once again we couldn’t do this without help. For years the the Osgood American Legion has supported us to provide gifts to every child that walks through and so many raffle prizes.

This is a free event and all are welcome. Every child can enter a raffle of their choosing. 1 raffle per child.

Every family may enter a raffle for a $25 gas gift card. 1 per family.

In the spirit of Thanksgiving, we would like to thank the Ripley County Community Foundation and the Roy & Hilda Back Memorial Trust for awarding the town and Osgood Volunteer Fire Department a grant. We were able to purchase a pitot tube kit to test fire hydrants. It takes a village and we are thankful for ours!!
