STATUS REPORT: Winnebago County Flooding Update

Winnebago County Emergency Management (WCEM) and local municipal officials are continuing to monitor water levels across the County. As Winnebago County has transitioned into flood recovery, status reports will shift to weekly updates on Wednesdays.

Winnebago County municipalities are completing sandbag and debris cleanup. Water levels continue to decrease at a slow pace as predicted by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Chicago District. Winnebago County flood cleanup and long-term recovery efforts continue to be a priority focus.

Please refer to Winnebago County's Flood Information and Resources website and your municipality's official outlets for updates on local debris cleanup. Residents in need of assistance for flood cleanup should contact their local municipality for guidance.

Winnebago County Public Health (WCPH) is providing free well testing kits for private well owners affected by the flooding. Call WCPH at 920-232-3000 for more information.

The Winnebago County Sheriff's Office has enacted Slow No Wake provisions on all navigable waterways within Winnebago County. This is pursuant to Winnebago County General Code 9.41 – Enactment of Boating Regulations Throughout Winnebago County.

WCEM recommends residents to monitor local weather forecasts and water level updates by following the US NWS Green Bay Wisconsin's page and the Lake Winnebago, USACE Chicago District's page.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is completing preliminary damage assessments for the flooding event in Waupaca County and Outagamie County. WCEM is working with the counties and Wisconsin Emergency Management (WEM) to complete necessary steps to determine local eligibility in the disaster recovery process. WCEM conducted damage assessments for the Town of Wolf River and other municipalities will have damage assessments completed as needed.

These damage assessments will help FEMA and President Donald Trump decide if Wisconsin will receive a federal disaster declaration for Individual Assistance (IA) and/or Public Assistance (PA). Currently, there is no federal disaster declaration and no federal assistance available.

Winnebago County residents with property damage and any unmet needs caused by this severe weather event can report this information to 211 Wisconsin:

The 211 Wisconsin reports help WCEM and local officials gain a better awareness on what resources Winnebago County residents need, and assist in navigating the most successful and efficient flood recovery pathway.

Winnebago County residents in need of mental health services and support can contact the Winnebago County Crisis Center at 920-233-7707.

Winnebago County Emergency Management (WCEM) and local municipal officials are continuing to monitor water levels across the County.

Winnebago County municipalities are preparing sandbag and debris cleanup. However, water levels continue to be high and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Chicago District predicts the water levels to most likely decrease at a slow pace. With this information, efficiently implementing cleanup plans has been a challenge, but continues to be a priority focus.

There is no evacuation order, and residents are encouraged to continue with their flood safety operations. Residents in need of assistance for flood cleanup should contact their local municipality for guidance.

The Town of Wolf River is operating a debris drop-off event for residents. The event is today, Friday, May 1st, from 9 AM to 4 PM, and Saturday, May 2nd, from 8 AM to 5 PM. Residents can drop off flood debris at:

During the Town of Wolf River debris drop-off event, Winnebago County Public Health (WCPH) will be available at the Town of Wolf River Town Hall with free well testing kits for private well owners. Residents are encouraged to visit ask questions on flood cleanup and health safety. If unavailable during the drop-off event and need more information or guidance, call WCPH at 920-232-3000.

During flooding events make sure to:

β€’ Stay out of impacted areas to allow first responders, highway crews, public utilities, and local officials to efficiently complete their work.
