In the Late 1970's the "MILES" system was deployed by the US Army. The acronym stands for Multiple Integrated Laser Engagement System. Its main objective was to deploy infrared beams into a receiver for scoring hits, during combat training. The idea for an arena system of scoring, came from George Carter III. He got the vision by watching "Stars Wars", in 1977. Today this system has evolved to become one of the fastest growing entertainment outlets in the world. Its common name....Laser-tag.

Did you know, that in 1907, Wellington Titus invented what he called a "base ball back stop"? This model was created because Wellington was tired of chasing after errant pitches and fouled baseballs. He sold his first portable model to Spalding and Brothers Company for 5 dollars. Today it is commonly known as the "Batting Cage".

Titus was also known for inventing the first way to move a house, via horse and cart, boot-jacks, and knitting needles.
