Extension Winnebago County We teach, learn, lead and serve, connecting people with the University of Wisconsin.

Winnebago County University of Wisconsin-Extension educators design educational programs which apply research, knowledge, and resources to meet the issues and needs of Winnebago County residents. This teaching is done through all media including radio, newspaper, meetings, visits, phone, and personal counseling and covers agriculture, family living, 4-H youth development, natural resources, and community development topics.

🌱 Thinking about starting a farm business or building a stronger plan for the future? The Land Stewardship Project's 2026-2027 Farm Beginnings class may be the right fit for you!

Farm Beginnings is a farmer-led course designed for beginning and prospective farmers who want to develop a profitable farm business that reflects their values, stewardship goals, and connection to community. Participants will explore whole-farm planning, marketing, financing, and business management while learning from experienced farmers and building a network of support.

📅 December 2026 through March 2027
💻 Hybrid format: Online via Zoom and in-person in the Twin Cities
💲 Cost: $1,000 per farm (covers up to two people; partial scholarships available)

The course focuses on farm business management and planning rather than production practices such as raising crops or livestock.
