6:10 pm UPDATE:
Rain has stopped…somewhat. Possibility still exists for up to an inch more of rain. The Turkey River has slowed but still rising. Same is true for the Upper Iowa River.
Stay safe. Keep an eye on the weather.
1:55 pm UPDATE:
Volunteers have organized to assist with clearing out the Inwood in Spillville. The Turkey River is currently over 10’ with an expectation of reaching over 15’. Unfortunately there is a possibility of another 0.5-1” of rainfall this afternoon.
Decorah projection has been pushed up to 12’.
Reminder to self-report any/all damages you come across.
Filled sandbags are available to pick up in Spillville and Freeport for those who want or need them.
11:40 UPDATE:
US National Weather Service La Crosse Wisconsin early flooding prediction is putting the Turkey River in City of Spillville into the "major" flooding category. The Upper Iowa River in City of Decorah at 11'.
Please take this time to preplan accordingly.
Reminder sandbags are available at the Freeport County Shop and the Spillville City Shop for anyone who wants or needs them.
Many secondary county roads are closed.
09:46 UPDATE:
City of Spillville has begun producing sandbags for anyone in need. You can pick them up at the city shop in Spillville. We will produce those bags prior to taking the machine to Freeport, FYI.

I have initiated a sandbagging operation for anyone in need of some sandbags. I will need some time to get everything set up so please be patient with me.
Here is the tentative "plan."
I have asked Frankville Emergency Volunteer Assoc. to retrieve the sandbagging machine for me from City of Spillville where it is kept. They will bring the machine to the Freeport County Shop outside of Decorah (1755 Old Stage Road, Decorah) where we plan to produce around 500 bags to start with. The bags are FREE for the taking. Take only what you think you will need.
We will produce the bags, you come and grab/haul the bags.
I will leave the sandbagging machine in Freeport in case we need to produce more throughout the day.
NO VOLUNTEERS ARE NEEDED AT THIS TIME...but that could change so please continue to watch this page for more updates.
