Ossian Fire departments new tanker, which was purchased by Jefferson township, returned from getting some final installations done and is officially in service.

Special thanks to FDC Communications and Vinyl Co who installed the radio and did the graphics on the side of the truck.

8/20/2026 on it's final emergency call which was a working house fire in our first due area.

On Aug 20 at 1106 am Ossian Fire, along with SWFD and Preble fire were dispatched to the area of 1000 N 100 E in a reported house fire.

Crews arrived and found a two story residence with heavy fire showing on the first and second story. The first units arrived and E 602 A began fire attack and 602 B entered and conducted a primary search since the homeowners were not located anywhere.

The initial fire was knocked down but due to the extensive fire crews were on scene for several hours. SWFD and Preble arrived and assisted with fire attack. Tankers from Markle were also requested and assisted at the scene.

The home sustained significant fire damage. Four dogs and three cats also perished in the fire. Two firefighters were treated in the scene for heat related issues.

WCEMS, Ossian PD, and WCSD assisted at the scene.

On Tuesday Aug 11 Ossian fire Dept responded on multiple runs.

Around 345 Ossian, SWFD,and Preble Fire Depts were dispatched on a reported house fire on 600 E north of 1000 N. E602, E601, E101 Tank 605 and T104 responded. Crews arrived and located a small fire in a garage after the house was struck by lightening. The home owner extinguished most of the fire prior to crews arriving. Crews checked for extension and cleared the scene by 420. WCSD also responded and assisted.

Around. 9 pm Ossian, Bluffton and SWFD Fire Deptartments responded to Ossian Health Care for a reported structure fire. Crews arrived on scene and found a dryer motor had overheated. Mutual Aid crews were disregarded and Ossian Fire crews handled the call. OPD and WCEMS also assisted on the scene. All units cleared by 925.

At approximately 5:41 PM, 7-15-2026, the Ossian Fire Department was dispatched to the intersection of State Road 1 and US224 for a semi rollover. Crews are still on scene to upright the semi. Please avoid the area if possible.
