Today my colleagues and I had the privilege of meeting with two members of the Ecuadorian National Assembly, Jahiren Noriega Donoso and Dr. Verónica Iñiguez Gallardo. It was a great opportunity to learn more about the political situation in Ecuador and hear from two brave women who are standing up for Ecuador's democracy and sovereignty as well as the dignity and rights of its working class people. Very grateful to my Assembly colleague, Diana Moreno (herself a trailblazer, as the first Ecuadorian-American woman to serve in the Assembly) for making this meeting possible.

To support those who are struggling to afford the supplies they need, I am teaming up with 914 Cares, NYS Assemblymember Chris Burdick, and State Senator Shelley Mayer to collect menstrual supplies in my district office, now through May 22. In Albany, I'm continuing to fight for a brighter future. Last week, I joined colleagues pushing for the Solar Up Now New York (SUNNY) Act, legislation I co-sponsor that will eliminate needless red tape surrounding plug-in solar. Plug-in solar panels are less expensive rooftop installations and will enable many more people to enjoy the benefits of low-cost solar energy generation. This legislation passed the Senate unanimously; time to get it across the finish line in the Assembly! 🌞
