It was a joy to attend this year's Environmental Leaders of Color Graduation and Showcase even before I was surprised with a lovely plaque! I have attended this event every year since Ossining and Peekskill students began participating, and love seeing the projects and hearing the students' excellent presentations. ELOC, thank you for the honor but more importantly, for the fantastic work you do engaging students in environmental science and helping them develop into problem solvers tackling big challenges. I am proud to support this program.

The Westchester County Department of Environmental Facilities will host four free compost giveaway events this fall, allowing County residents to receive nutrient-rich compost produced locally through the County’s CompostED Program.

Residents will also have the opportunity to purchase compost bins, rain barrels and related accessories at reduced prices during the Sept. 30 event.

Upcoming Event Schedule:
• Wednesday, Sept. 16 – Croton Point Park, Croton-on-Hudson | 4 to 7 p.m.
• Tuesday, Sept. 22 – Sprout Brook DEF Facility, Cortlandt | 4 to 7 p.m.
• Wednesday, Sept. 30 – Household Material Recovery Facility, Valhalla | 4 to 7 p.m.
• Saturday, Oct. 3 – Harrison Train Station, Harrison | 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Residents interested in purchasing compost bins or rain barrels must place their orders in advance and pick them up on Wednesday, Sept. 30, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Household Material Recovery Facility in Valhalla.

Due to limited quantities, registration is required for all events. For more information and to register, visit https://ow.ly/Rp3g50ZyHgb

With help from the Governor's office, we've set up an impromptu resource fair at the Ossining Community Center to help residents displaced by the Parth Knolls fire and anyone else looking for assistance from state agencies like the DMV. Stop by before 3 PM to get help replacing IDs, assistance with insurance from the Department of Financial Services, printing important documents, or just to ask questions and let us know what help you need. We are happy to help in any way we can.

Constituent input is very important to me, and I have continued my predecessor's practice of periodically surveying residents to gauge opinion on issues and legislation. Thank you to everyone who participated in my 2025-2026 Issues Survey! I was pleased to see an increase in the response rate.
