Thursday night members gathered for weekly training and enjoyed a meal together. The meal was generously funded by longtime supporters and provided by a local restaurant. After dinner, members recertified their CPR skills with an outside instructor. Thank you to everyone who helped make the evening possible!

Fire and EMS Crews from around the area joined together last evening for a great class centered on MCI responses. Mass Casualty Incidents can occur anyplace at anytime. We are all better prepared having participated in this training.

Huggins Hospital has been recognized as one of the "100 Critical Access Hospitals to Know" by Becker's Hospital Review! We are the only Critical Access Hospital in NH and one of only six in New England to earn this national recognition! According to Becker's, this recognition places Huggins Hospital among a select group of hospitals that are setting the standard for rural healthcare - organizations known for expanding access to care, strengthening services close to home and improving the health of their communities.

The Becker’s 2026 honor continues a longstanding tradition of national recognition for Huggins Hospital. Over the years, our organization, our leadership and our individual staff members have been acknowledged for excellence in quality and leadership, demonstrating a consistent commitment to workforce culture and to our patients. Being named to Becker’s “100 Critical Access Hospitals to Know” list reflects the consistent, behind-the-scenes work of delivering reliable care and the continued trust and support from donors, patients and the Huggins Hospital community.

Thank you for celebrating with us! You can find the link to the full story in the comments below.

Monday and Tuesday Ossipee Corner, Center Ossipee and West Ossipee crews and apparatus participated in ladder testing at the Jewel Hill Fire Station.

Third-party NFPA ladder testing involves independent, certified technicians inspecting and load-testing a fire department's ground and aerial ladders to ensure they meet the rigorous safety and compliance requirements of NFPA 1932 (Ground Ladders) and NFPA 1911 (Aerial Devices).

Thanks to West Ossipee for hosting the site again this year.

Photo shows Firefighter changing soon to expire heat sensors on a 3 fly 35 foot ladder prior to testing.

Fire ladder heat sensors, also known as heat sensor labels, are irreversible thermal stickers applied to aluminum and fiberglass ground ladders. They permanently turn black when exposed to temperatures exceeding the point where ladder materials risk losing at least 25% of their structural load capacity.
