Dear Kindergarten Families,
We have received a few questions about kindergarten screening, so I wanted to share a little more information about what to expect.
Kindergarten screening is a brief opportunity for our staff to get to know your child before the school year begins. During the screening, your child will work one-on-one with a staff member and complete a few simple, age-appropriate activities.
These may include recognizing letters and numbers, identifying colors and shapes, listening and responding to directions, and sharing basic information.
This is not a test that children need to study for, and there is no need to practice ahead of time. The information helps our teachers better understand each child’s strengths and areas where they may need additional support as we begin the school year.
Kindergarten screening is not mandatory, but it is highly encouraged. It gives us helpful information and allows your child to become a little more familiar with the school and our staff before the first day.
Screening will take place on Thursday, August 6, 2026, during the following times:
9:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m.
3:30–6:30 p.m.
Thank you for helping us prepare for a successful start to kindergarten. We are excited to welcome our newest Mustangs!
Warmly,
Principal Marotz
