The public is invited to tour the NOAA Ship Thomas Jefferson on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM. The vessel will be docked at the Port of Oswego West Pier, located at 1 W 1st Street, Oswego, NY. Parking is available at the H. Lee White Maritime Museum. Visitors can tour the ship to learn about the hydrographic survey mission of the NOAA Ship Thomas Jefferson in Lake Ontario and engage with representatives from Lake Ontario National Marine Sanctuary and other regional NOAA offices.

Marine Incident in the Oswego Harbor

Oswego Firefighters responded to a marine incident in the Oswego Harbor involving a vessel that struck the breakwall due to an apparent mechanical issue.

Oswego Fire Department marine units responded to the scene and confirmed that all occupants were accounted for and uninjured. The occupants were able to take temporary refuge on the breakwall and were safely transported to shore by Oswego Fire Department marine units.

The United States Coast Guard is coordinating with a local marine salvage company to secure the vessel and arrange for its removal from the breakwall.

The Oswego Fire Department was assisted at the scene by the Oswego Police Department, the U.S. Coast Guard-Station Oswego, and Menter Ambulance.

July 24, we launch from Ditto Landing.

On July 25, the official clock begins on our historic 6,000-mile record-breaking attempt around America’s Great Loop... built to raise national awareness for veteran su***de and remind veterans everywhere that there is purpose after mission.

This mission was created to make the conversation as loud as possible. To spark conversations. To encourage veterans to seek help when needed. To remind communities across the country that support saves lives.

Now, we are calling on communities along the route to become part of it.

Our planned fuel stops will take Freedom Fighter through cities across the country. Exact times and dates will depend on conditions and progress, so follow our live tracking and updates.
