Oswego County Prevention Coalition A coalition of concerned Oswego County residents/stakeholders dedicated to combating adolescent substance abuse, and protecting our youth from said harm.

The mission of the Oswego County Prevention Coalition and YC3 (Youth Creating Change Coalition), is to increase developmental protective factors and decrease risk factors as we address adolescence substance abuse in Oswego County.

Yesterday we attended the Oswego County Youth Bureau's Youth Summit! Held at the Oswego County Fairgrounds, this event gave us the opportunity to share our mission with students from all over Oswego County. We also told them about our Youth Advisory Board, which gives kids the opportunity to work alongside community providers and policymakers to enact change they want to see in the community! A big thank you to the Bureau for having us!

The CDC reports that about thirty percent of cannabis users, almost one in three, will develop Cannabis Use Disorder (CUD) during their lifetime. CUD is a substance use disorder similar to Alcohol Use Disorder. While there are many symptoms, they exemplify a concern where substance use makes it difficult for the person using to balance work and relationships with their craving to use cannabis.
