Otego Community Food Pantry

Otego Community Food Pantry To provide emergency food to hungry people in our community in a dignified, confidential and supportive manner. Rev.

The food pantry was organized by members of the Otego Baptist Church(now called the Unatego Community Church) many years ago. Brian Cutting and his wife Becci, along with Lisa Pearce and Colleen Hammond kept the pantry operational until 2012. In 2012, Elsie and Bill Howland, along with Dottie Lent, took over. They set regular Saturday hours for the food pantry to be open and welcomed the involveme

nt of the 4 other faith communities. The Pantry then became known as the Otego Community Food Pantry and added Thursday afternoon hours for more convenience to the families. The number of families assisted continues to grow weekly.

This is our eleventh year of Growing and Giving Gardens to clients through the Otego Community Food Pantry. It wouldn’t be possible without the great support of the Board and the contributions of the wonderful individuals who serve our community through the Pantry. Thank you! (Would you believe that one of the veggie boxes on the steps is one of John and Betty’s original flower boxes from 2014?)

Tractor Supply Co. donated many bags of soil to this year’s garden give away. Thank you, John!

Reminder: garden give-away coming soon! Food pantry clients can pick up tomato plants and veggie boxes during regular hours beginning June 1st.

We are preparing for the spring gardening project to give away planters to Otego Community Food Pantry clients. Do you have containers from summer's past to return or donate? Containers 12" (or bigger) in diameter are best for tomatoes, but window boxes and salad boxes will also be reused. Drop these off to the right of the Food Pantry door. No need to place an order this year - just come browse out front during the regular pantry hours on the following dates: June 1st, 6th, 8th, 13th, & 15th.

It's that time of year again...
The Pantry is in need of used pots for this summer's tomato plants. The ideal pot size is 12" diameter by 10" (or 12") height. These can be the containers you had from last year's tomato plants or extras you have from seasons past. Pots can be dropped off at the pantry… 290 Main Street… in the area to the right of the pantry door. Thank you!
