OHS Update: WCAS testing has been rescheduled!

All 11th grade students will now take the WCAS Science assessment on Tuesday, May 19.

✔️ 11th graders report at the regular time (7:40 AM)
✔️ Grades 9, 10, & 12 will have a 3-hour late start (10:40 AM)

🚌 Buses will run as normal. Students who arrive early may remain in the corridor until school begins.

📍 Students can check their Google Calendar or advisory teacher for testing locations.

🍳 Breakfast will be served from 7:10–7:40 AM only.

On Tuesday night, Othello High School proudly hosted our annual Local Scholarship Night — a celebration of hard work, perseverance, and the incredible support of our community. This year, more than $200,000 in local scholarships was awarded to our students, opening doors to future opportunities and dreams yet to be fulfilled.

We are deeply grateful to every donor, organization, family, and community member who continues to invest in the future of our students through their generosity. Your support is more than financial assistance — it is encouragement, belief, and hope for the next generation.

To our students: congratulations. These scholarships are a reflection of your dedication, resilience, and the countless hours you have poured into your education and goals. We are so proud of all you have accomplished and cannot wait to see the impact you will make in the world.

Last week, we proudly held our Senior Presentations at Othello High School—one of the final and most meaningful steps in the journey toward graduation.

This experience gives our seniors the opportunity to reflect on their growth, showcase their career goals, and demonstrate the skills they’ve built throughout their high school careers. It’s a powerful reminder of how far they’ve come and how close they are to crossing the graduation stage.

We are incredibly grateful for our dedicated staff and the members of our community who volunteered both evenings to serve as judges and scorers. Your time, encouragement, and support play a vital role in making this experience meaningful for our students.

We are proud of our seniors and excited for all that’s ahead as they move toward graduation.

Dear Othello High School Families,

Due to the recent tragedy impacting the Othello High School community, the late start previously scheduled for testing on Tuesday, April 28th (tomorrow), has been cancelled. School will operate on a normal schedule tomorrow morning.

In times such as these, maintaining a sense of routine and normalcy can be an important support for our students. We believe a regular school day will help provide stability as we continue to care for one another as a community.

The testing originally planned for tomorrow, April 28th, will be rescheduled for a later date within the school year. Additional information will be shared once those details are finalized.

This past week, our FBLA students competed at the State Conference in Spokane—and what an experience it was! With over 120 schools and 2,500 students in attendance, the level of competition was incredibly high.
Our team, made up entirely of freshmen and sophomores, rose to the occasion. With only one returning state competitor, their performance speaks volumes about their dedication, growth, and teamwork. Mr. Gonzalez, Mrs. Ellis, and Mrs. Perez couldn’t be more proud of how they represented Othello—not just in competition, but in their professionalism and character throughout the trip.
A special congratulations to two teams who advanced to the finals:

OHS TSA club attended the state competition last weekend. Ashlynn Bates submitted art for the Concept Art Category. After her submission, interview, and semi-finals. We are proud to announce that Ashynn was awarded #1 overall!! We are so proud of her and her dedication! Go Huskies!

Heads up, OHS families!

On Tuesday, April 28, Othello High School will be on a modified schedule due to state testing.

✔️ 11th grade students will take the WCAS Science assessment and should report at the regular time (7:40 AM). Students can check their Google Calendar and/or connect with their advisory teacher for their testing location.

✔️ 9th, 10th, and 12th grade students will have a 3-hour late start (10:40 AM).

Buses will run at normal times. Students who arrive early will report to the corridor until the school day begins.

Breakfast will be served from 7:10–7:40 AM only. There will be no second chance breakfast after the bell.

We’ve been celebrating our amazing students at OHS this week for their hard work during 2nd Trimester!
🎉 Monday: Sophomores were recognized (again!) for leading the school in attendance with an impressive 87% for Tri 2.
🎉 Tuesday: Over 450 students earned Honor Roll (3.0 or higher) — each receiving a certificate and pin for their achievement.
🎉 We also celebrated our 9th graders as Huskie Pack Students of the Quarter!
We have incredible kids at OHS, and we’re proud to recognize their dedication and success. 💙

The OHS Drill Team is headed to Yakima this weekend, and we couldn’t be more proud! Your energy, dedication, and school spirit have brought you this far, now it’s time to take the state stage and show everyone what Huskie pride looks like!

The Class of 2026 brought the house down this past Saturday with their Men’s Beauty Pageant! 🤵✨ From the moment the show started, the crowd was buzzing with excitement as contestants took the stage with big personalities, creative outfits, and talents that had the audience cheering and laughing all night long.

The night was full of unforgettable moments, hilarious skits, and plenty of school spirit as each contestant gave it their all to win over the judges and the crowd. It was truly an evening packed with energy, entertainment, and lots of laughs from start to finish.

After an incredible show, Josiah ““JOJO” Garza was officially crowned Mr. OHS 2026! 👑

Congratulations to Jojo and to all of the contestants who made the night such a fun and memorable event. The Class of 2026 definitely knows how to put on a show! 🎉👏
