"Historical Spotlight of Othello's History: Sunset Drive-in Theater."

Anyone who was born in the 40's through the 80's here in Othello knows there was once a classic Drive-in Theater called Sunset Drive-in. It was located South 7th Ave where the now Guadalupe Haven Apartments are located right off of SR 26 just distance from those apartments.

Thinking far back when I was a young kid, I remember being at the Sunset Drive-in Theater as I remember seeing the late artist Prince in a movie. Back then I couldn't remember what movie it was at the time but I do remember seeing Prince in music videos growing up. As I got older I looked up his history in featured films and turned out it the movie I saw at the drive-in theater with Prince was Under The Cherry Moon which was released back in 1986.

Here are some throwback drive-in theater flyers as well of what was shown back in those days.

I wanted to share an article from The Othello Outlook Archives from four Park/Rec board members dating back in November 24, 1993 first and also go even further back to an article about City Council Ok'd of adding a sidewalk on 7th Ave as they plan of adding a Drive-in Theater on November 26th, 1964.

Take a look back of what those four Park/Rec board members had planned yet had some setbacks and failures of the future of what they felt the community needed for the youths in the community of Othello as it turns out those future plans never went through in the far future to this day in the year 2026.

What's interesting is what Jeannie Ochoa had wrote "I remember as a teenager, not liking Othello because there was 'nothing to do'. Before saying that she also said "Examples of rec district projects, she says, include renting an existing building for a youth center, building a medium sized water slide at the public pool continuing city beautification and adding sports fields.

I just wanted to highlight what Jeannie Ochoa said as I completely agree with her future thoughts back then in 1993 of what she saw in the future. But those plans never went through in the far future.

It's important to look back at history as well as seeing history not only repeats itself but also rhymes with what the city of Othello is dealing with today as this community of Othello has no active swimming pool or any word or updates on a splash pad at Kiwanis Park over the past several years as projects were discussed back when former Mayor Sean Logan was in office.

It was shocking for the community of Othello to be exposed to the community swimming pool shutting down due to poor underground piping as water levels were not adding up to it's water data usage as water was depleted somewhere underground. From what I understood from being at those past city council meetings during the last two years of former Mayor Logan was in office.

Emphasis on what Jeannie Ochoa said 'nothing to do' here in Othello as she was growing up and that right there is where I feel there's really nothing much to do when this community has no fu***ng swimming pool or a damn splash pad for the community of Othello to enjoy and have something to do or employment to be contributed to our economy.

Now we have our newly elected officials and Mayor for 4 years. I feel this is the only 4 years they've got to start talking about the swimming pool and the splash pad within those 4 years. Otherwise we're set for another repeated history of projects that are going to be disappointing for the community for the future once their terms are up.

If this current city council and Mayor have not done anything physical done to any swimming pool or splash pad within those 4 years. I don't want to see them run for another 4 years if they haven't done anything within their first 4 years. Nope I'm not buying it.

I also wanted to share the history of the city council back in 1964 as Lutacaga is given the okay to add a sidewalk as projects to build Sunset Drive-in Theater was planned.

This sidewalk made history because the city council felt it wasn't safe for children to walk along the road to school including the school principal at the time named Orland Favaro along with other principals named Ed Bock, Gene Oord, Bill Hinchliffe also contributed to conversations of the safety of students.

I just wanted to share the history of the sidewalk you see today in front of Lutacaga Elementary and the names and the history behind it that kids walked safely to and from school over the many decades to this day your children walk on to be safely picked up and dropped off. Let's not forget their names that made history.

History sure brings back so many memories and the past future projects that were promising for the future that never went through as those ideas would have made a difference in the way our future of Othello would have been if those plans went through. As some actually happened as we have a sidewalk that made the future of students at Lutacaga Elementary have a safe space to walk to and from school as we often forget who had thought about those projects that took shape into their future as we are currently to this day still enjoy the sidewalk on 7th Ave.

"Un hito histórico de Othello: El autocine Sunset."

Cualquier persona nacida en Othello entre los años 40 y 80 sabe que existió un autocine clásico llamado Sunset. Estaba ubicado en la 7.ª Avenida Sur, donde ahora se encuentran los apartamentos Guadalupe Haven, justo al lado de la carretera estatal 26, a poca distancia de estos.

Recordando mi infancia, recuerdo estar en el autocine Sunset y ver al difunto Prince en una película. En aquel entonces no recordaba qué película era, pero sí recuerdo haber visto sus videos musicales durante mi niñez. Al crecer, investigué su filmografía y descubrí que la película que vi en el autocine con Prince era "Under the Cherry Moon", estrenada en 1986.

Aquí tenéis también algunos folletos de autocines de antaño que muestran lo que se proyectaba en aquella época.

Quería compartir un artículo de los archivos de The Othello Outlook, escrito por cuatro miembros de la junta de Parques y Recreación el 24 de noviembre de 1993. También quería ir aún más atrás, a un artículo sobre la aprobación del Ayuntamiento para construir una acera en la 7.ª Avenida, como parte de sus planes para un autocine, el 26 de noviembre de 1964.

Repasemos los planes de estos cuatro miembros de la junta de Parques y Recreación, que sufrieron contratiempos y fracasos en lo que consideraban que la comunidad necesitaba para los jóvenes de Othello. Resulta que esos planes no se concretaron, y siguen vigentes hasta el día de hoy, en el año 2026.

Lo interesante es lo que Jeannie Ochoa escribió: "Recuerdo que, de adolescente, no me gustaba Othello porque 'no había nada que hacer'". Antes de decir esto, también mencionó que algunos ejemplos de proyectos del distrito recreativo incluyen alquilar un edificio existente para un centro juvenil y construir un tobogán acuático mediano en la piscina pública. Esto, según entendí al asistir a las reuniones del consejo municipal durante los dos últimos años del mandato del exalcalde Logan.

Hago hincapié en lo que Jeannie Ochoa dijo sobre la falta de actividades en Othello durante su infancia, y es precisamente ahí donde siento que realmente no hay mucho que hacer cuando esta comunidad no tiene ni una maldita piscina ni un parque acuático para que los habitantes de Othello disfruten y tengan algo que hacer o que contribuya a nuestra economía.

Ahora tenemos a nuestros nuevos funcionarios electos y al alcalde por cuatro años. Creo que estos son los únicos cuatro años que tienen para empezar a hablar de la piscina y el parque acuático. De lo contrario, nos espera otra historia de proyectos que serán decepcionantes para la comunidad en el futuro una vez que terminen sus mandatos.

Si este consejo municipal y este alcalde no han hecho nada físico por ninguna piscina o parque acuático en estos cuatro años, no quiero verlos postularse para otros cuatro años si no han hecho nada en sus primeros cuatro años. No, no me lo creo.

También quería compartir la historia del ayuntamiento en 1964, cuando Lutacaga recibió la aprobación para construir una acera como parte de los planes para el autocine Sunset.

Esta acera hizo historia porque el ayuntamiento consideró que no era seguro que los niños caminaran por la calle hacia la escuela. "First Time Documenting OHS 2026 Graduation where 8 Guests per Student Only Enter Showing Bracelets."

I would like to say congratulations to the Othello High School class of 2026. And a salute to all the brave men and women who are planning to join our US Military Services after graduating, I want to thank each and everyone for your sacrifice in serving our country and defending our freedom.

Many may have their own opinions on the Othello School District limiting 8 guests per student as wrist bands are required to be worn and be shown to enter. I'm not opposed to this idea, I think it's fair enough as you can see later during the video the huge difference from past graduation ceremonies where it was overly crowded as many were saving seating which wasn't fair to those who showed up first.

I wanted to document this since this graduation took a different route in limiting guests to 8 guests per student. And to observe our Othello Police Department at the course of their duties while enforcing the OSD policies when it comes to guests entering.

So far, everything went smoothly. No incidents occurred while guests showed their colored bracelets as OPD asked each person walking in if they had their bracelets on. As OPD helped assist those who couldn't put them on.

And informing each guest about their clear bag policy as OPD gave them a fair warning that the security inside may say something about bringing in a purse or bag that's not transparent.

This graduation turned out just fine, no students who spoke were not interrupted as those students spoke freely in English and Spanish.

Will the Othello School District do this again on having 8 guests per student next year? Was this a test run to see the capacity of seating and do a comparison from past graduation ceremonies where there were no limited guests?

Who knows, I'm glad that this graduation wasn't out of town where the OHS Graduation didn't take place at another facility where everyone had to be traveled by buses and at least had no limited guests. I think this concept was much more safer and allowed only those who are parents and close relatives of 8 guests were allowed to have enough seating for all those attending. Then to have it overcrowded as seating is very limited to those parents who want to see their children graduate.

I just wanted to say congratulations to the class of 2026.

Quisiera felicitar a la generación de 2026 de la Escuela Preparatoria Othello. Y un saludo a todos los valientes hombres y mujeres que planean unirse a las Fuerzas Armadas de los Estados Unidos después de graduarse. Quiero agradecerles a todos y cada uno por su sacrificio al servicio de nuestro país y en defensa de nuestra libertad.

Muchos pueden tener opiniones diferentes sobre la decisión del Distrito Escolar de Othello de limitar a 8 invitados por estudiante, ya que se requiere usar y mostrar las pulseras para ingresar. No me opongo a esta idea; creo que es bastante justa, como se puede ver más adelante en el video, la gran diferencia con las ceremonias de graduación anteriores, donde había demasiada gente reservando asientos, lo cual no era justo para los que llegaron primero.

Quise documentar esto porque esta graduación tomó un camino diferente al limitar los invitados a 8 por estudiante. Y observar al Departamento de Policía de Othello en el cumplimiento de sus funciones, haciendo cumplir las normas del Distrito Escolar de Othello (OSD) con respecto al acceso de invitados.

Hasta el momento, todo transcurrió sin problemas. No se registraron incidentes mientras los invitados mostraban sus pulseras de colores, ya que el Departamento de Policía de Othello les preguntaba a todos los que entraban si las llevaban puestas. El Departamento de Policía de Othello ayudó a quienes no podían ponérselas.

Además, se informó a cada invitado sobre la política de bolsos transparentes, advirtiéndoles que el personal de seguridad podría tomar medidas contra quienes llevaran bolsos o mochilas que no fueran transparentes.

Esta graduación se desarrolló sin contratiempos; ningún estudiante que habló fue interrumpido y se expresó libremente en inglés y español.

¿Repetirá el Distrito Escolar de Othello la iniciativa de permitir 8 invitados por estudiante el próximo año? ¿Fue esto una prueba para evaluar la capacidad del recinto y compararla con ceremonias de graduación anteriores donde no hubo límite de invitados?

Quién sabe, me alegra que esta graduación no se haya celebrado fuera de la ciudad, a diferencia de la graduación de OHS, que tuvo lugar en otro sitio donde todos tuvieron que viajar en autobús y, al menos, no hubo restricciones de invitados. Creo que este concepto fue mucho más seguro y permitió que solo los padres y familiares cercanos de 8 invitados tuvieran asientos suficientes para todos los asistentes. En lugar de eso, habría sido un desastre, ya que los asientos son muy limitados para los padres que querían ver graduarse a sus hijos.

Solo quería felicitar a la generación de 2026.

"Good Riddance to CBHA Pharmacy. Hello to CarelonRX Pharmacy as I Wanted to Share a Positive Outcome and my Experience at CBHA of Othello Pharmacy."

This has been the best decision and a game changer when it comes to having an alternative to the Pharmacy at CBHA of Othello. And I know I'm not the only one feeling that way as I wanted to share more of what CarelonRX Pharmacy Mail Order Services are about. And hopefully for those who have been frustrated and want to find a way out of Othello's CBHA Pharmacy.

I will say that most of their pharmacists here at CBHA of Othello do their best and often have made some errors and their systems are often not up to speed when leaving from your providers side of the clinic. There's some flaws that need to be worked on of course. However I had dealt with some issues over the past two years that I had experienced to the point of wanting to switch to a whole new pharmacy.

So I contacted my insurance company and spoke with the pharmacy department as I stated that I am seeking a new alternative pharmacy other than the CBHA pharmacy. And also the reason for it was because I can't get there all the time and I don't want my time being there to have been wasted and having to deal with the hassle and getting text notifications from prescriptions that I am no longer taking to be sent to my phone when their system is not fully updated from my current prescription list.

They suggested that I switch to CarelonRX. So I was told I had to make a phone call and go through the screening process as I am asked many questions and what prescriptions I am taking and if I wanted them delivered directly to my physical address. I said yes, as long as it's not through CBHA anymore.

They were very helpful and gave me more insight of what CarelonRX Pharmacy does and what services they provide as they make sure each prescription is fully covered and is eligible for free shipping as it turns out all of them are.

It was well worth going through the process and having to have my provider send all my prescriptions as approval to be handled through CarelonRX was done within that same day a few hours later which I am thankful for.

I truly wanted to share this for those who don't have any transportation or have difficulties physically getting to the CBHA pharmacy in Othello. With CarelonRX Pharmacy Mail Order Services they will provide you with text messages of where your order of prescriptions are located along with tracking information through UPS.

And also if you have the Sydney Health app with your insurance account, you can also request a refill and tracking of your prescription through the app as well.

I wanted to freely express my own experiences at CBHA of Othello on my own media platform as I would like to share some closure to this. Yes at times they provided great service don't get me wrong, and at times it was disappointing and a complete waste of my fu***ng time.

But nobody is perfect including myself. We're only human, but we have learned from our mistakes and some of our choices. I happen to find a positive outcome from all this bu****it.

I created my platform for a reason and that is to share what I want to share with the community of Othello and other cities and countries from various ages and from both men and women viewers, from followers to non followers. I wanted to share what my page data, statistics, numbers and demographics are all about. So there for I can say to what the f**k I want to say in my own perspective as a patient. You're welcome to create your own page and establish as many followers and non followers and match my page data, statistics, demographics and percentages and say what the f**k you want to say or share on your own s**t. Okay.

However I do appreciate all the followers and non followers and the likes, shares and reactions even the comments and feedback regardless of what they are I do appreciate them all.

As for Dr. Elali I have submitted an official complaint towards him and the damn nurse who lied to me. I truly understand now that there may be some protocols to this doctor not wanting to release one specific prescription to me that day which I come to realize that I'm okay with.

However I would have appreciated it if they had just told me that s**t at the pharmacy in the first place than to have one of the pharmacists suggest I go see the available doctor which is Dr. Elali at the time for me to see one of his nurses in order to mislead me to think that it was going to take this quick appointment to get this prescription filled.

As I waited for 10 minutes to be seen by one of Dr. Elali nurses and was told by this nurse as he stated that all 4 of my prescriptions were going to be filled as he took all 4 of my prescription bottles out for a minute and came back in to tell me that they are all going to be refilled. And for me to pick them up at the pharmacy.

Only to have gone to the pharmacy and was told to wait 20+ minutes. As my name was called I was looking at only 3 prescriptions being done as I asked what about the 4th one? They didn't see it on their system as I just told them I was told to be seen by another pharmacist to see Dr. Elali nurse's as my provider wasn't available to which I had no idea he was even in that day which wasn't my concern at the moment. As I needed to check-in again and see Dr. Elali nurses first. I told the pharmacist I just left from there and that's what one other pharmacist suggested and now they don't have that prescription in their system? I asked why and they had no fu***ng clue as to why so they told me to wait another 20+ minutes.

At that point I did speak to the clinic manager towards the end as I was later told while I was in the manager's office, one of the pharmacist supervisors walked in and had informed me that the reason why Dr. Elali refused to release a prescription because my provider wasn't in that, no further explanation or any other context or any other policies regarding the reason at all. I wasn't going to argue about it even more as I decided to write a quick complaint which was very brief. But I did however fill out two pages on both sides giving very specific details and my perspective of what I experienced for honesty and transparency.

So this is what led me to no longer have to deal with this specific situation at this CBHA Pharmacy each time I had to come here and face the same s**t if and when my own provider is physically no longer available or left for the day. And that's why I am now with CarelonRX. I don't have to physically go anywhere, I don't have to make sure my provider is there or not anymore. I no longer have to put up with another doctor refusing to refill my prescription, I don't have to put up with any nurses lying to me anymore. Those fu***ng days are so over.

If you are feeling frustrated and wanting to have all your prescriptions mailed to you and not have to deal with this bu****it. I would recommend calling your insurance members service phone number and asking for your pharmacy department and telling them that you would like to sign up for CarelonRX Pharmacy Mail Order Services and they will direct you to that department. I would suggest that you at least have about 2 hours available of your time in order to go through the screening process as they will ask you various questions about the prescriptions you are taking. And your personal information as well as it will take up to three different people to verify everything to make sure those questions are matching up to your insurance information of your prescriptions. Trust me, it's well worth it.

Then once that is completed, they will FAX your provider before you get off the phone as it can take up to a few hours to have all the information sent to your provider. I would call and reach out to your provider nurses and inform them that you would like to switch pharmacies and be sure to mention CarelonRX Pharmacy Mail Order Services. And request that your provider sends off all your prescriptions and to have the providers nurses reach back to you once your provider has officially signed and authorized the pharmacy charge to CarelonRX.

I truly hope this reaches out to those that truly do need to change pharmacies and those who don't have any transportation or live too far from CBHA of Othello and are tired and frustrated on having your time wasted or have driven all the way over here for nothing and would rather have them delivered directly to your home/apartment and want to no longer deal with this pharmacy at CBHA of Othello anymore I would strongly recommend in taking these steps and switching over to CarelonRX.

Esta ha sido la mejor decisión y un cambio radical al tener una alternativa a la farmacia de CBHA de Othello. Sé que no soy el único que piensa así, por eso quería compartir más sobre los servicios de farmacia por correo de CarelonRX Pharmacy. Espero que esto ayude a quienes se han sentido frustrados y buscan una alternativa a la farmacia de CBHA de Othello.

Debo decir que la mayoría de los farmacéuticos de CBHA de Othello hacen lo mejor que pueden, pero a menudo cometen errores y sus sistemas no siempre están actualizados al enviar los pedidos desde la clínica. Claro que hay algunos aspectos que mejorar. Sin embargo, en los últimos dos años tuve problemas que me hicieron plantearme cambiar a otra farmacia.

Así que contacté a mi compañía de seguros y hablé con el departamento de farmacia, ya que estaba buscando una farmacia alternativa a la de CBHA. Además, el motivo era que no puedo ir siempre y no quería perder el tiempo allí, ni tener que lidiar con las molestias y las notificaciones por SMS de recetas que ya no tomo, cuando su sistema no está completamente actualizado con mi lista de recetas.

Fueron muy amables y me explicaron con más detalle qué hace la farmacia CarelonRX y qué servicios ofrece, ya que se aseguran de que cada receta esté totalmente cubierta y sea elegible para envío gratuito, como resultó ser el caso.

Valió la pena todo el proceso, incluso el envío de mis recetas a través de CarelonRX, ya que la aprobación se realizó ese mismo día, unas horas después, lo cual agradezco enormemente.

Quería compartir esta información con quienes no tienen transporte o tienen dificultades para llegar a la farmacia CBHA en Othello. Con el servicio de pedidos por correo de CarelonRX, recibirán mensajes de texto con la ubicación de sus recetas y el seguimiento a través de UPS.

Además, si tienen la aplicación Sydney Health con su cuenta de seguro, también pueden solicitar una renovación y el seguimiento de sus recetas a través de la aplicación.

Quería expresar libremente mis experiencias en CBHA de Othello en mi propia plataforma, ya que me gustaría cerrar este capítulo. Sí, a veces me brindaron un excelente servicio, no me malinterpreten, y otras veces fue decepcionante y una completa pérdida de tiempo.

Pero nadie es perfecto, incluyéndome a mí. Somos humanos, pero hemos aprendido de nuestros errores y algunas de nuestras decisiones. De hecho, he encontrado un aspecto positivo en todo este lío.

Creé mi plataforma por una razón: compartir lo que quiero compartir con la comunidad de Othello y otras ciudades y países, con personas de todas las edades, tanto hombres como mujeres, seguidores y no seguidores. Quería compartir los datos, estadísticas, cifras y datos demográficos de mi página. Así puedo decir lo que me da la gana desde mi perspectiva como paciente. Pueden crear su propia página, conseguir tantos seguidores como quieran, usar los datos, estadísticas, datos demográficos y porcentajes de mi página y decir o compartir lo que les dé la gana. De acuerdo.

Sin embargo, agradezco a todos mis seguidores y a quienes no lo son, así como los "me gusta", las veces que comparten y las reacciones, incluso los comentarios y las opiniones, sean cuales sean. Los aprecio todos.

En cuanto al Dr. Elali, presenté una queja formal contra él y la enfermera que me mintió. Ahora entiendo que puede haber ciertos protocolos que impidan que este doctor me dé una receta específica ese día, y me doy cuenta de que no me importa.

Sin embargo, hubiera preferido que me lo hubieran dicho en la farmacia desde el principio, en lugar de que uno de los farmacéuticos me sugiriera que fuera a ver al médico disponible, que era el Dr. Elali, para que me atendiera una de sus enfermeras, con el fin de engañarme haciéndome creer que la receta se surtiría en una cita rápida.

Esperé 10 minutos para que me atendiera una de las enfermeras del Dr. Elali. Esta enfermera me dijo que iban a surtir mis cuatro recetas, sacó los cuatro frascos por un momento y luego regresó para decirme que las iban a surtir y que podía recogerlas en la farmacia.

Fui a la farmacia y me dijeron que esperara más de 20 minutos. Cuando me llamaron, vi que solo se estaban preparando tres recetas. Pregunté por la cuarta, pero no la tenían registrada en su sistema. Les expliqué que me habían dicho que me atendiera otro farmacéutico en lugar de una enfermera del Dr. Elali, ya que mi médico no estaba disponible, algo que desconocía por completo, pero que no me preocupaba en ese momento. Necesitaba volver a registrarme y ver primero a una enfermera del Dr. Elali. Le dije al farmacéutico que acababa de salir de allí y que otro farmacéutico me había sugerido lo mismo, ¿y ahora resulta que no tienen la receta en su sistema? Pregunté por qué y no tenían ni idea, así que me dijeron que esperara más de 20 minutos.

En ese momento, casi al final, hablé con el gerente de la clínica. Me enteré después de que, mientras estaba en su oficina, entró uno de los supervisores de farmacia y me informó de que el Dr. Elali se había negado a darme la receta porque mi médico no figuraba en su lista. No me dio ninguna explicación, ni contexto, ni ninguna otra política al respecto. No quise discutir más, así que decidí escribir una queja breve. Sin embargo, rellené dos páginas por cada lado, dando detalles muy específicos y mi versión de los hechos, por honestidad y transparencia.

Así que esto fue lo que me llevó a no tener que lidiar más con esta situación específica en esta farmacia CBHA cada vez que tenía que venir aquí y enfrentarme a la misma mi**da si mi médico no estaba disponible o se había ido por el día. Y por eso ahora estoy con CarelonRX. No tengo que ir físicamente a ningún lado, ya no tengo que asegurarme de si mi médico está allí o no. Ya no tengo que aguantar que otro médico se niegue a renovar mi receta, ya no tengo que aguantar que ninguna enfermera me mienta. Esos malditos días se acabaron.

Si te sientes frustrado y quieres que te envíen todas tus recetas por correo y evitar este engorro, te recomiendo llamar al servicio de atención al cliente de tu seguro y preguntar por el departamento de farmacia. Diles que quieres suscribirte al servicio de pedidos por correo de CarelonRX y te pondrán en contacto con ese departamento. Te sugiero que reserves al menos dos horas para completar el proceso de verificación, ya que te harán varias preguntas sobre los medicamentos que tomas y tu información personal. Además, hasta tres personas verificarán que todo coincida con la información de tu seguro. Créeme, merece la pena.

Una vez finalizado el proceso, enviarán un fax a tu médico antes de que cuelgues, ya que puede tardar varias horas en llegar toda la información. Llama a las enfermeras de tu centro de salud e infórmales de que quieres cambiar de farmacia, mencionando el servicio de pedidos por correo de CarelonRX. Solicite a su médico que envíe todas sus recetas y que las enfermeras se comuniquen con usted una vez que su médico haya firmado y autorizado oficialmente el cargo de la farmacia a CarelonRX.

Espero sinceramente que esto llegue a quienes realmente necesitan cambiar de farmacia y a quienes no tienen transporte o viven muy lejos de CBHA de Othello, y están cansados y frustrados por perder el tiempo o haber viajado hasta aquí para nada, y prefieren que les entreguen los medicamentos directamente en su casa o apartamento y ya no quieren tratar con esta farmacia de CBHA de Othello. Recomiendo encarecidamente seguir estos pasos y cambiarse a CarelonRX.
