The Otsego Fire Department takes great pride in the training, dedication, and commitment of our members and the communities we serve. Being a firefighter is about much more than responding when the tones drop it requires continuous training, preparation, teamwork, and a commitment to being ready for whatever call comes next.

Our members participate in two department training sessions every month, covering a wide variety of disciplines designed to keep our skills sharp and our crews prepared for when the tones drop.

Yesterdays training topic was district knowledge with an emphasis on apparatus placement, water supply and scene size up. You may have seen our members and trucks out at various locations in our service area, don’t be alarmed we were only training.

Back by popular demand… we will be having our FOAM and FIRETRUCK mist party again at the library this Wednesday at 2 PM!

(**Firetruck will be there if no emergencies**) Wear something you can get wet in, bring a towel, and meet us on the library lawn!

Today at 11am Allegan County will be testing all outdoor tornado warning devices in the area, if you hear the siren today around 11am know this is only a test.

You are cordially invited to attend an awards ceremony on May 4, 2026 at the Otsego Fire Department, located at 117 E Orleans St. Otsego, Michigan.

Doors will open at 5:30 PM, with the ceremony commencing at 6:00 PM.

This special event will recognize and honor members of our Fire Department, our Police Department and local citizens for their outstanding service and contributions to the community.

This afternoon, Otsego Fire Department responded to a residential structure fire in the 200 block of W. Allegan Street in the City of Otsego. All occupants were able to exit safely, and crews quickly brought the fire under control. Unfortunately, the structure sustained significant damage.

We’d like to extend our sincere thanks to Allegan County Central Dispatch, Alamo Township Firefighters Association, Gun Plain Township Fire Department, Plainwell Area EMS, Plainwell Department of Public Safety, Otsego Police, and VanDam & Kruisinga for their invaluable assistance. Incidents like this remind us how essential our mutual aid partners are—we truly couldn’t do it without you.
