How much is too much?

In a world where alcohol is often glamorized and even encouraged, it can be hard to identify when your drinking habits may be more than just casual consumption.

First, it’s important to recognize the different types of drinking and how to differentiate them.

Alcoholism: a dependency or addiction to alcohol has developed
Alcohol abuse: a pattern of drinking excessively, despite negative consequences
Casual drinking: a pattern of low-risk drinking that involves consuming alcohol in low doses on rare occasions

If you are ever unsure or worried about your drinking habits, you can take this anonymous alcohol use screening and access information about what you can do to help yourself: https://screening.mentalhealthscreening.org/recoveryisbeautiful

✨Public Health Week: Environmental Health Highlight✨

Water. We use it every day without thinking about it. Turn a lever and water flows, hands are cleaned, drinks are taken, and clothes are washed. It seems so simple, yet, for many, the search for safe water is a problem. PCHD can sample residents’ water for various contaminants such as nitrites, nitrates, coliform (bacteria) or lead for a fee. PCHD uses a third-party lab for sample analysis. Have questions contact us at 419-523-5608. #NationalPublicHealthWeek

✨Public Health Week: Environmental Health Highlight✨

Did you know that if you are bitten by a dog or other mammal, the incident is required to be reported to the health department?

If you visit a health care provider for a bite, they are required to report the bite incident. When the report is made, the health department will then follow-up with the animal owner, if possible, concerning the incident. There were 45 animal bites investigated in 2021. #NationalPublicHealthWeek
