Did you ever wonder why some people make the choices/decisions that they do? Wapello County Children's Alliance is providing you with an opportunity to take a peek behind what living in poverty is like through a Poverty Simulation.
The Poverty Simulation Experience is an interactive, immersive learning opportunity designed to give participants a glimpse into the structural barriers—and the personal and emotional repercussions—faced by individuals living in poverty. This is a simulation, not a game. Its purpose is to shift our paradigm away from viewing poverty as a personal failure and toward understanding it as a structural issue and a failure of society.
This Poverty Simulation is open to the community on March 26 at the Bridge View Center in Ottumwa, Iowa, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Lunch will be provided following the simulation, during which participants will take part in a guided debrief and discussion. There is a max of 80 participants available, the form will be shut off if capacity has been met.
Participants are asked to arrive by 9:50 a.m. to allow the simulation to begin promptly at 10:00 a.m. Please register https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdlxlOke2WTBUoLQa_eU7AnbrG3zKPDrjUKxQ7annEXXm5ONA/viewform
