After a full 2 week assignment on the Shingle Fire, our Type 3 Engine crew will start their journey home from Oregon tomorrow morning. We appreciate the work these 4 men have done and the sweat and sacrifice that has gone into the last 2 weeks. These pictures of their entire task force were taken today, on the last day of their assignment.

Huge thanks to the men and women who are working so hard in such challenging environments to protect lives, land, and property. HOFD still has 6 crew member assigned to the Shingle Fire in Oregon, and these are a few of the pictures they've taken. We appreciate the sacrifice, dedication and perseverance of everyone working wildland fires all over the country right now. Our thoughts and our thanks are with you and your families.

The HOFD crew working the Shingle Fire was assigned to a task force with three Type 3 Engines (Heber-Overgaard, Ponderosa, and Corona De Tuscon) and two Type 6 Brush Trucks (Scottsdale and Bullhead City). The task force leader is from Central Arizona Fire Authority.
They were tasked today with back burning operations using drip torches to reduce the fuel available for the wildfire to burn.
There are many different agencies working together to achieve a common goal. We thank them all for the opportunity to work with them and appreciate the teamwork and effort by all.

HOFD was able to help Sue with a vehicle lockout a few months back. She stopped by today to say thank you, and brought Sassy along for her 1st picture with a fire truck. Thanks Sue and Sassy! It was fun meeting you both!

Today the HOFD crew is drafting from portable tanks to supply uphill/downhill hoses to support the Forest Service on the Shingle Fire. High temperatures there have been around 100° so not much relief from the heat. Their hard work, along with all of the other men and women fighting wildfires all over the country right now, is recognized and appreciated. Thank you for your service and dedication. Hope to see you all home safely soon!
