"It takes a lot of energy to be mean - it takes a lot of energy to be hateful. People want joy! People want to love their neighbor again. That's part of my message: It's okay to love your neighbor again."

In the land of Oz, Jeanna Repass, Kansas Democratic Party Chair, is the one behind the curtain pushing buttons and pulling levers on behalf of the Harris – Walz juggernaut. Asked about her strategy to help deliver a President Harris agenda to Kansans, the Chair responded: “We’re fortunate in Kansas to have a democratic governor, Laura Kelly, to offset the republican super majority. We need to pick up two seats in the house and three seats in the senate [to make that more effective]. Once we break the super majority, we can [better] help facilitate the Harris- Walz agenda.”

As I celebrate my 54th birthday, I look around and am humbled by all of life's blessings, and am truly grateful for all of them:
My amazing family - my rock and foundation every day for everything I do.

Our steadfast Democratic Governor Laura Kelly and Lt. Governor David Toland and Representative Sharice Davids who lead us with grace and dignity.

Our labor leaders who diligently keep the needs of our working and everyday people elevated to the forefront of every conversation.
The wonderful people of Kansas, my neighbors and friends who help to make life and work full of joy and purpose.

I say this all as the Chairwoman of your Kansas Democratic Party, where I have the honor to work with a record breaking slate of Democratic candidates who are working hard to every day to break the Republican supermajority in the legislature, a Kansas delegation to the Democratic National Convention who will make Kansans voices heard loud and clear next week in Chicago, and a KDP staff that keeps the ball moving forward on so many fronts.

It is an honor to be where I am and to serve every day - I take nothing for granted, and am energized to keep fighting every day for Kansas.

As the Chair of the Kansas Democrat Party, I am so proud that we welcomed Governor Walz to the great State of Kansas earlier this year as our keynote speaker for our annual Washington Days Convention. Governor Walz has the right message, experience, and proven track record to lead our country alongside Kamala Harris

Under NO circumstances is violence acceptable. None of us can condone violence or minimize the threat that violence is to our free and open democracy.

Happy Juneteenth everyone! Today we honor the work of those who came before us - the work of my mother and father, and so many before, to ensure freedom and equality.

I will honor that by continuing to work tirelessly to continue to move the ball forward.

That work is not done to make us comfortable, but to make sure everyone has a seat at the table.

I am honored to be featured this week on the cover of the Kansas Community Voice!

"Jeanna's ask of Community Voice Readers:

Repass says she realizes not everyone will get involved with party-level politics, but she has a few asks for our readers.

VOTE: "That's not an option, that's a requirement of being a citizen of this country," Repass says, "but as an African American [and Latina] woman, our very lives depend on us voting."

RUN FOR OFFICE: "Why not you," she asks, particularly of young people. "The future of the country is on your shoulders." To those who say they are too old to run, or that's not for them, she says to encourage someone you know to run. "Barack Obama didn't just fall out of nowhere. Someone encouraged him."

VOLUNTEER: "I'm not going to the 'please donate,' because I get it, money's hard and times are hard, but you can volunteer your time, which is really the best resource you have." Repass says, "Find a candidate. Find a Black candidate, find a female candidate, find a Democrat, but volunteer. Pick up the phone, takj to a neighbor, knock on a dor, but volunteer. Put sweat equity into your country, put some sweat equity into your community, put some sweat equity into yourself."

Remember, she's a preacher's daughter. Preach, Jeanna, Preach.
