Election Season is under way! If you would like to vote in the Democratic Primary on or before August 4th and receive a ballot with Democratic candidates, make sure you are registered as a Democrat by this Monday, June 1st! Every Kansas voter, regardless of their party affiliation, will be able to vote on the constitutional amendment (VOTE NO).

The last day to register to vote for the August Primary is July 14th, and advanced in-person voting begins in Johnson County on July 18th! Watch this page for more election information throughout the summer!

Join us on Monday, June 1st at SERV in Overland Park to meet candidates, celebrate the official start of election season, and learn how you can get involved to help turn Kansas blue! Last weekend, we were thrilled to welcome several of our regional labor leaders to a Labor Partner Happy Hour. We are so thankful for all of the work these local leaders do to support workers in our community, and this was a great opportunity for our 2026 candidates to meet with them and start forging positive partnerships. Johnson County, you asked for a powerhouse speaker… and we listened.

We are pleased to announce that Senator Mark Kelly will join us as our featured speaker for our 11th Annual Forever the Free State Gala on Saturday, August 15th!

Senator Mark Kelly is a retired U.S. Navy combat pilot, engineer, and NASA astronaut. He lives in Tucson with his wife, former Congresswoman Gabby Giffords. Mark took office in December 2020 after Arizonans elected him to fill out the remainder of the late Senator John McCain’s term. In 2022, Arizonans elected him to a full six-year term in the Senate. Mark is the son of two police officers, and he attended public schools from elementary school through the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy and U.S. Naval Postgraduate School. As a naval aviator he made two deployments on the aircraft carrier the U.S.S. Midway and flew 39 combat missions in Operation Desert Storm. Mark was selected as an astronaut in 1996 in the same class as his twin brother, Scott, and has spent more than 50 days in space. We can’t wait to welcome him to Johnson County.
