How is middle school already almost over for these kids?!

Today, we celebrated our 8th graders during their farewell ceremony and spent the afternoon at their 8th Grade Celebration making memories together, laughing, and finished the day signing yearbooks one last time.

It’s hard to believe this chapter is coming to a close. We are so proud of this class and grateful for the impact they’ve had on Lakewood. Once a Cougar, always a Cougar.

The hugs said it all.

Today’s senior grad walk was more than just a tradition. It was a reminder of the lasting impact of the relationships built inside these hallways. Watching graduating seniors reconnect with former teachers through hugs, smiles, laughter, and conversations was something really special.

Years may go by, but the connections built at Lakewood remain.

Life Saving Leaders at Lakewood
Our free CPR & AED training event started as an idea within our Lakewood Student Activities Committee (LSAC).

LSAC focuses on three main priorities at Lakewood: student involvement/inclusion, school spirit, and safety. What began as conversations about school safety and student leadership eventually turned into a community event that trained more than 150 people tonight!

Our students helped shape the vision for this event, partnered with 13BEATS, and worked alongside the Overland Park Fire Department to help bring life-saving training to our school community.

Proud of these students for showing that leadership is about more than just participating. It is about using your ideas, voice, and passions to make a difference for others.

Lakewood Learns Life Saving Skills ❤️

Over 150 people were trained in CPR & AED awareness today at Lakewood!

Huge thank you to 13BEATS for helping make this event possible, the Overland Park Fire Department for facilitating the training, our LSAC student leaders, and everyone who came out to learn life-saving skills.

It was incredible to see our community come together around something so important.

Mark your calendars! ONE WEEK AWAY!

Join us at Lakewood Middle School for a FREE CPR & AED training event on Thursday, May 7 from 3:00–5:30 PM in the gym.

This event was planned and led by our Lakewood Student Activities Committee in partnership with 13BEATS and the Overland Park Fire Department, giving our students the opportunity to make a real impact in our community.

- Hands-only CPR & AED awareness
- ONLY takes 10 minutes
- Open to EVERYONE in the community.

Bonus: The first 200 participants will receive a free sandwich from Mr. Goodcents!
