Identification of dog involved in bite incident
OVERLAND PARK, KS – The Overland Park Police Department is requesting the public’s assistance in locating a dog involved in a bite incident that occurred on the night of Wednesday, May 27, 2026.
At approximately 10:00 p.m., the victim was walking their own dog near the intersection of W. 79th Street and Grant Lane when they were approached by a canine running off leash without an owner. The off-leash dog aggressively approached the walker and attacked, resulting in a bite injury to the walker. After the incident, the dog fled the area in an unknown direction.
The Animal Control Unit is seeking a canine described as:
• Medium-sized, Husky-type
• Brown with white spots
• Distinctive Features: Fluffy tail
While the victim’s injuries are being addressed, the primary goal of this search is to verify the rabies vaccination status. This information is critical for the victim’s medical treatment and to ensure public safety.
