Beyond the classroom, into the simulator. ️

Our OP interns got a firsthand look at how modern public safety operates using the Axon VR TASER training system. The focus wasn't just on the technology itself, but on mastering communication, de-escalation techniques, commanding presence, and split-second decision-making.

Proud to provide our interns with the skills and tech that shape the future.

PROBATIONARY PLASTIC WHISTLE ALERT ⚠️

Attention Overland Park drivers: Our newest batch of police academy graduates has officially been released into the wild today. Their mission? Learning how to direct traffic.

Yes, this is their actual first time trying to play human traffic lights. To ensure maximum entertainment (and minimal property damage), here is what you need to know:

📍 Where to find the "chaos":
Happening Now: W. 95th and Antioch

Later Today: W. 127th and Antioch

🚥 What to expect:

Whistle Overdrive: They just got their whistles, and by golly, they are going to use them. Expect varying pitches of panic and enthusiasm.

The Confused Stare: If you and the rookie lock eyes and neither of you knows who is supposed to move next, just remember, they are just as terrified.

🛑 A Note on Patience: Please don’t honk unless it's a friendly "you're doing great, sweetie" tap. Let's help them get through Day 3 without accidentally sending a minivan into a ditch.

Deep breaths, check your blind spots, and please be patient. We promise they'll get the hang of it... eventually!

Today we’re looking back and honoring the memory of Retired Detective Terry Allen. Terry served 35 incredible years, protecting our Overland Park community with honor.

Beyond the badge, he was a phenomenal investigator and fi****ms instructor who shared his expertise with patience and passion. He didn't just teach us how to shoot, he taught us how to be professionals.

Terry, you are deeply missed by your OPPD family, but your impact lives on in every officer you mentored. We’re still thinking of you. Rest easy, brother. 🕊️
