The fun just keeps going!!!!

At today’s pep rally, we were officially presented our $5,000 check from T-Mobile for the Friday Night 5G Lights program!

$5,000 coming back to LC and our kids! That is a WIN!

But we are not finished! We are STILL eligible for the $25,000 Fan Favorite Award, and this is where we need the entire LC community to get after it!

LC Community-

A pretty cool moment this morning!
The boys took a minute to sing Happy Birthday to Coach Dawson Blear, a 2020 LC graduate who returned home to LC this past January to coach and work with our kids. I also slipped in a personal picture that makes this one a little more special for me. Dawson was one of my ball boys probably 15 years ago when I was coaching. Now, all these years later, he is back at LC coaching the next generation of Lions.

That is pretty special to see.

LC Community-

A few days ago, I asked for your thoughts about our little lion that has been in the courtyard for many years. I loved reading the comments and seeing how many memories are tied to the LC Lion. It became pretty clear that we needed to keep him. So, the LC Lion is staying!
I also want to give a very special thank you to Ashley (Ford) Bariteau, an LC graduate, for reaching out and accepting the challenge of professionally restoring him.

Those of us who remember Ashley from her time at LC know how talented she is. Her artistic ability was obvious even when she was in high school. We are so thankful that she is willing to come back home and use that talent to restore a little piece of LC history. Ashley will be back at LC soon to begin the process, and I cannot wait to see what she does!

I think there is something pretty special about an LC graduate coming back to restore something that has meant so much to generations of LC students.

Thank you to everyone who shared your opinions, thoughts, memories, and love for the LC Lion. I appreciate you taking the time to help us make this decision.

LC Community-

This morning brought back some memories for me. I can remember being an elementary student and seeing the high school football players walking around in their jerseys. I thought those guys were larger than life. I was in awe of them, and I remember thinking that one day I wanted to be just like them.

This morning, after their team breakfast, our High School Football team took some time to greet our elementary students in the top parking lot and in the cafeteria. Watching our little Lions interact with our football players reminded me just how important moments like these really are.

Our players may not always realize it, but those younger kids are watching them. They look up to them. This is bigger than football. This is how we build relationships, build school culture, and pass that Lion pride from one generation to the next.

It has been a great start to our Game Day Friday!

Do not forget we have two opportunities to support our Lions tonight. Our Varsity Volleyball team will host Longview St. Mary’s at 4:30 p.m., followed by our Varsity Football team hosting Bryan St. Joseph at 7:30 p.m.

Come out and support our kids!

Our 5th-grade beginner band members are starting off strong! I love seeing our kids try something new and watching them get a little better each day. They are just getting started, but I cannot wait to hear how much they have grown when they perform at our Christmas Concert.

LC Community-

A little Friday school spirit from Mrs. O’Neal’s first-grade girls! We push hard every day in the classroom because learning will always be our priority. But sometimes we also need to make time for the things that build school culture and connect our kids to the traditions that make LC special.

These young ladies are doing their best rendition of “Two Bits” as they get ready for Friday night football! We remember the past. We build for the future. And we keep that Lion pride going from one generation to the next.

LC Community-

Our fifth graders were hard at work in ELAR today! Students were given scrambled stories and had to use transition words as clues to determine the correct sequence of events and put each story back in order.

This is a great example of our students doing more than just reading. They are thinking, analyzing, and using clues from the text to solve a problem.
Great job, fifth grade, and thank you to Mrs. Cole for creating meaningful learning opportunities for our Lions!

WE BACK!!!!!!

The last 7 to 10 days have been tough with illness making its way through our schools, but today we are back on track! High School had only 1 student absent, Junior High had only 2, and Elementary was at 100% attendance!

That put our district attendance at 98.76% today!!!!!!

Attendance matters. Every day in the classroom matters. Thank you to our parents, students, teachers, and staff for helping us get everybody healthy and back in school.
