Today, the Ovid Middlebury Fire Department remembers and honors the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. We wish everyone a safe and meaningful Memorial Day as we take time to reflect on the true meaning of this day. 🇺🇸

Lieutenant Cal Martin and his family recently made a trip to visit their family farm in Missouri and made a stop along the way at the Blandinsville Hire Fire Protection district in Illinois. Blandinsville is the department that purchased our former Engine 1 a few years ago, it was great to see the truck still serving another community. We appreciate the hospitality and enjoyed the chance to reconnect!

On behalf of the Ovid Middlebury Fire Department, we would like to extend our sincere thanks and gratitude to the families and friends of Larry Curtis, Dick Thornburg, and Gary Garlock for their generous memorial contributions to our department.

Because of these thoughtful donations, we were able to procure two O2 monitors, a combustible gas monitor, and an Emergency Plug. The Emergency Plug is a specialized safety tool used by first responders to instantly immobilize electric vehicles during accidents or rescue situations, helping prevent unexpected vehicle movement and improving scene safety for both responders and patients.

These memorial contributions will directly support our firefighters and enhance our ability to safely serve and protect the community for years to come. We are truly grateful for the support shown in honor and memory of Larry, Dick, and Gary. Their legacy will continue to make a difference through the equipment that now helps keep our responders and community safe.

Thank you again for your generosity, kindness, and continued support of the Ovid Middlebury Fire Department.
