Cornerstone Shopping Center update:
According to Oklahoma Natural Gas, the source is not believed to be a gas leak. Investigators are currently evaluating whether the presence of gas may be related to an abandoned well or a naturally occurring pocket of methane. The Oklahoma Corporation Commission has been notified and is now involved in the investigation.

Samples have been collected and sent to a laboratory for analysis. The building and all of its businesses, along with the parking lot, will continue to remain closed until testing is completed and a safe course of action is determined based on those results. Please stay clear of the barricaded area, as ONG officials have deemed the building unsafe. Surrounding roadways and structures are open and accessible.

Cornerstone Shopping Center is the strip center located on the South side of 86th St N from 123rd E Ave to 125th E Ave.

Shout out to OPD Advanced Collision Reconstruction Officer Zach Kays for wrapping up another Advanced Collision Reconstruction School in OKC. There have been FAR too many fatality and serious bodily injury collisions in Owasso of late, and training such as this provides our officers the training needed to do the very best in-depth investigations. CORNERSTONE SHOPPING CENTER located from 12300 to 12500 on 86th St N remains closed while ONG investigates a large gas leak. The entire shopping center was evacuated yesterday afternoon after Fire Officials and ONG representatives deemed the strip center unsafe. There is NO NEED to park elsewhere and walk around the barricades to get inside as all businesses that occupy the center are closed and will remain so until repairs are made. ONG will notify Owasso Emergency Dispatch once the area is rendered safe and we will provide the all clear. For now, please stay clear of the shopping center. All surrounding roadways and facilities are open and deemed safe.

The Owasso Police Department was fortunate to receive some incredible help this week from the youth program at Owasso First Methodist Church!

As part of their annual Camp Week, students spent time serving throughout the community and helping those in need. One outstanding "God Squad" team volunteered at Owasso PD’s Gun Range, where they helped construct a raised flower bed in conjunction with the Owasso Strong Neighborhood Initiative.

The project was a complete success, and we couldn't be more grateful for their hard work, positive attitude, and commitment to serving others.

6:30 AM (6/19) UPDATE: ONG crews advised the investigation timeline has been extended. The Cornerstone Shopping Center and all businesses within it remain closed. The earliest anticipated reopening is this afternoon.

9:30 PM UPDATE: ONG crews remain on scene investigating a large gas leak. The Cornerstone Shopping Center remains closed and will remain closed until tomorrow morning at the earliest. Please continue to avoid the area. We will provide updates as they become available.

6PM UPDATE: ONG is still working on the scene. The shopping center remains closed and barricaded. ONG WILL PROVIDE US AN UPDATE ONCE A REPAIR HAS BEEN MADE AND WE WILL PROVIDE AN UPDATE ONCE THE CENTER IS SAFE TO ENTER AGAIN. THERE IS NO NEED TO CALL INTO THE EMERGENCY DISPATCH CENTER TO ASK UPDATES (as that would interfere with ongoing emergencies), WE WILL PROVIDE UPDATES HERE AS THEY BECOME AVAILABLE. CORNERSTONE SHOPPING CENTER - 12300 East 86th St N
IS CLOSED - ALL BUSINESSES IN THE CENTER ARE CURRENTLY CLOSED. At approximately 3:40PM (Thurs 06-18) Owasso Police and Fire crews responded to a request for assistance from ONG, who advised of a large gas leak right next to an electric transformer in the back of the strip center. Out of an abundance of caution fire officials, at the urging of ONG, have evacuated the entire center until a repair can be made. Owasso Police have all entrances and exits to the shopping center closed and all businesses in that shopping center will remain evacuated and closed until such a repair can be made. No roadways are effected at this time. Avoid this shopping center until the All Clear.

ANYONE KNOW THIS GUY?
Owasso Police are requesting assistance from the public in identifying this person in an (alleged) Larceny from Retailer (Theft) from the 86th Walgreens on 06-15-2026 at approximately 6:20PM.
Store management described the individual as "a young black male wearing a black sleeveless top, camo shorts, gold chain, dark shoes, an overly large gray backpack, shoulder length dreads, light framed glasses, goatee, and minimal facial hair above upper lip", who stole $140.00 worth of 'Plan B' pills.
