We are excited to welcome the Kentucky Jailers' Association!

We look forward to seeing everyone this upcoming week in Owensboro for the Kentucky Jailers Association Summer Conference.

Our Training Committee has put together an outstanding week of educational opportunities, professional development, and networking. We will also have many vendors on site ready to showcase products, services, and solutions to help meet the needs of our facilities across the Commonwealth.

A special thank you to Jailer Art Maglinger, the Daviess County Detention Center, Daviess County, and the City of Owensboro for their hospitality and for helping host this year’s conference.

Safe travels to everyone attending, and we look forward to a great week of learning, collaboration, and fellowship.

It is Audrey Hepburn who receives credit for the quote; "To plant a garden is to believe in tomorrow." This simple but profound quote reminds us all of the importance of hope. Our inmates don't have to be defined solely by who they are now, but have opportunity and a hope for a brighter future and better path forward.

We are proud of these inmate workers for their dedicated work with our gardens. We also look forward to their harvest, which will not only benefit themselves and other inmates, but also our community. Special thanks to Corporal Hicks for his diligence in helping oversee the DCDC gardens.

Congratulations to Sergeant Joni Bocianoski and her fellow graduates with Leadership Owensboro Class of 2026! The Greater Owensboro Chamber of Commerce hosted a graduation ceremony for their class this evening, which was presented by RiverValley Behavioral Health.

Sergeant Bocianoski was joined by Jailer Maglinger, Major Jones, Captain Coomes, Corporal Hicks and her family. Major Jones and Captain Coomes are also former graduates of the Leadership Owensboro program. We wish Sgt. Bo and her fellow graduates continued success in their service to our community!

The Daviess County Detention Center is proud to be the host agency for the 2026 Kentucky Jailers' Association Summer Conference next week. Our community will welcome jailers, deputy jailers, training presenters and vendors from across our state and nation for a time of training, networking and camaraderie.

We want to thank the KJA leadership, training committee, vendors and other community partners for planning a successful event. Jailer Maglinger would also like to recognize Tim Ross with the City of Owensboro along with Mark Calitri and Teresa Jones with Visit Owensboro for their detailed work behind the scenes. Thank you!

Recently, we welcomed Executive Director Alondra Johnson and several volunteers from CASA of Ohio Valley. During their time at DCDC, the group received a presentation of facility operations, heard from an inmate worker and toured our Main Building (Bldg. 1). We are grateful for the mission of CASA and the dedicated service of these Court Appointed Special Advocates.

We would like to recognize Daviess County Coroner Jeff Jones and the ASAP Board for providing nitrile gloves and "Onebox" emergency opioid overdose reversal kits for DCDC. The gloves will be utilized by our deputy jailers to protect them against hidden dangers and the kits will be made available throughout the facility for use in an emergency.
