Our rope rescue training took us to the new Station 3 today!

Did you know parts of this station were specifically designed to support training exercises? The three-story tower and apparatus bay area provide valuable opportunities for firefighters to practice and sharpen their rescue skills.

It was an exciting morning as we got to put these new training spaces to use for the very first time. We're grateful to have facilities that help our team stay prepared to respond to any emergency!

Today’s training took crews to the roof for Vertical Ventilation Training.

These hands-on drills help firefighters build skills, strengthen teamwork, and stay prepared for the moments that matter most!

This message is as important as ever in our community. Share the word about the 211 hotline for those in need to be directed to services that include: utility bill assistance, housing, food pantries, and mental health services. We all need a need a little help sometimes. Please consider dialing 211 to reach United Way of Ohio Valley’s Health and Human Services line and find out what may be available.

For many families, it’s not a long fall into hardship—

It’s one missed paycheck.
One car repair.
One medical bill.

That’s all it takes.

Poverty isn’t always far away.
Sometimes, it’s just one moment. 💙

Our department has been very proud each year of a tradition of taking part in the annual Day of Remembrance at Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Firefighters Andy Shively and Andy Johnson were on hand this year to display the American flag from Quint 2 and to stand respectfully in honor of our veterans.

Bring the family out for this great event put on by our local public library. We are proud to host again this year and we look forward to seeing you there!

Join the Daviess County Public Library every Friday now through July 31st as we take storytime on the road!

This week, we will be traveling to the Walter Freeman Owensboro Fire Department Training Center, 1323 Daviess St, Owensboro, KY 42303 👨‍🚒 🚒

The Fire Department's training center is located on Daviess St, across from Huck's gas station on JR Miller Blvd.

Every Friday from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM, we will meet at a new destination where DCPL staff will share an engaging storytime. After the story, families are invited to explore, play, or tour the facility — all free of charge for those attending our program, including admission to the site.

Bring the whole family for a summer of stories and discovery! Stay tuned for the weekly location announcements, and get ready to read a galaxy of stories with us!

*Please note: Complimentary admission is available only during official library programs. Any use of the space for personal events or parties outside of these programs must be coordinated directly with the hosting organization.

We were so proud to welcome our retirees to the new Station 3 today to enjoy a meal and to share memories with one another.

Most importantly, our current members had the opportunity to meet some of those who came before us and who have left such a lasting legacy of service.

Let us never forget the shoulders we stand on in the pursuit of providing life safety and property conservation to this community.
