There is nothing quite like being in a room full of veterans when one of our own is honored - and yesterday at our 4th Annual Cookout, that moment belonged to Korean War veteran Morris Millman.
Surrounded by families, friends, and comrades at the Pikesville Armory NCO Club, Morris was presented with a handcrafted quilt by the Quilts Of Valor Foundation Www.qovf.org. Watching decades of selfless service recognized in that room captured the exact reason Maryland Free State Post 167 exists: ensuring that those who wore the uniform know their sacrifices will never be forgotten.
Beyond honoring Morris, the afternoon was filled with great kosher barbecue, lively conversations, and the unmistakable camaraderie that comes from service members sharing a table. We shared many stories. We shared a veterans Larry Yolken sister's passing. We also shared the recent birth to one of our own Natan Kerendian.
