We are an all-volunteer fire company out of Baltimore County, Maryland. We operate 24/7/365. We are a non-profit volunteer fire and ems organization.

Our apparatus includes a Rescue Engine, an Engine-Tanker, a Tanker Support Unit, a Medic, a Medical Support Unit, and a Special Operations Response Team vehicle.

Follow these five simple steps to prevent falls (at any age):
1. Keep areas where you walk tidy.
2. Don’t leave books, papers, clothes, or shoes on the floor or stairs.
3. Check that all carpets are fixed firmly to the floor, so they won’t slip.
4. Put no-slip strips, which you can buy at any hardware store, on tile and wooden floors.
5. Don’t use throw rugs or small area rugs. (Source: NIH)

Did you know?
🔥An average of 1,700 home fires are started each year from instances of spontaneous combustion or chemical reactions
🔥An average of 900 home fires each year are started when oily rags catch fire or are ignited

Oil-based paint, stains and varnishes are often used for home improvement projects. When used rags hold petroleum, they can oxidize and self-heat. The best plan is to treat every oil-soaked rag as a possible fire starter.

To reduce the risk of fire, take these precautions:
1. Never leave cleaning rags in a pile; hang the rags outside or spread them on the ground to dry, weighing them down so they do not blow away. Make sure they are not placed in a pile or near buildings.
2. Put dried rags in a metal container with a tight lid with a label that indicates its contents. Fill the container with a water and detergent solution to break down the oils.
3. Keep containers of oily rags in a cool place, out of direct sunlight and away from other heat sources.
4. Check with your local sanitation department for instructions on how to properly dispose of the used rags.
5. If you spill liquids on your clothing, remove clothing and place outside to dry. Once dry, the clothing can be safely laundered. (Sources: NFPA, OSHA)

Can bathroom exhaust fans cause fires? Definitely!

Although rarer than other home fires, bathroom exhaust fan fires can cause severe damage. They are caused by fans or motors overheating due to lint clogs or from faulty installation or wiring.

The best way to prevent these deadly fires is to regularly clean and monitor all bathroom exhaust fans in your home. (Source: AFI)

FIRE SAFETY: PR***EN CHILDREN

Did you know? High-frequency tone smoke alarms are not effective in waking sleeping pr***en children. Children sleep longer than adults and spend more time in slow-wave sleep, the stage that requires the loudest noise to wake.

This is especially problematic because data show that 31% of people killed in home fires are sleeping at the time of the fire. Make sure your fire escape plans include someone assigned to wake pr***en children.

We are thrilled to announce the promotion of Jessica Feinstein to Primary Provider on our ambulance! 🌟

Jessica joined us in June 2025, already holding her EMT certification in Virginia. After quickly securing her Maryland reciprocity, she brought that solid foundation straight into our rigorous internal training program.

Passing every evaluation with flying colors, she is officially ready to step up and lead patient care on the front lines. We are incredibly proud of her hard work and excited to see her take this next step.
