We're working on a grant report today and are struck once again by the difference it makes when HOPE shows up in a neighborhood. These pictures are of the playground at Pleasant Valley Trailer Park. January 2020-April 2021. Through funds from 100+ Women Who Care and Shiawassee Community Foundation AND through the hard work and dedication of Eagle Scout Sam Felpausch, Shiawassee Hope was able to bring this resource into the neighborhood where we work.

It was such a great feeling to be back in the Pleasant Valley neighborhood Wednesday evening. The pantry was open, free dinner served, and a surprise visit from the ice cream truck sponsored by some incredible volunteers. We’ll be in the neighborhood every Wednesday this summer from 4-6 pm. Next week, we’ll be planting our garden beds if you’d like to join us.

Thanks to all of you, the Shiawassee Hope Christmas store served 65 children from 29 families this Christmas season. For each child, parents chose 1 large toy, 2 medium toys, pajamas socks and underwear, and a stocking with stuffers. Each family received a board game, a $50 grocery card, and a gift certificate to Greg and Lou's for pumpkin pie. Be watching for our Christmas in July Toy Drive next year. We hope to make the store even bigger and better in 2021. We cannot say "Thank You" enough!

12/20/2020

We have a few toys, games, stocking stuffers, pajamas, socks, and underwear left from our Christmas store. We are making these items available on a first come, first served basis tomorrow, December 21, only from 9 am-3 pm. Address is 521 E Williams Street. No contribution, no income requirement, no verification, and no ID necessary. Feel free to share this post with anyone who might need just a little extra help this Christmas.
