Do you paint? Build bird houses? Keep bees? Make crafts?

Could you donate an hour or so of your time this summer to enrich the lives of neighborhood children?

Now that summer is here, we're switching our weekly Reading Club at Pleasant Valley to Summer Kids' Club every Thursday from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. beginning June 11. We're looking for community members who would be willing to come to Pleasant Valley Impact Center and share a skill with our neighborhood children.

We would love to have you come to share with our Summer Kids' Club on the Thursday of your choosing. Comment below or message our page if you could donate some time. Other adult volunteers will be present to assist. You don't have to stay the full two hours. Come enrich the summer time of kids who often miss out on other community activities.

It’s Table Tuesday at Pleasant Valley Impact Center. In a community where resources are often scarce, we love to bring abundance. Tonight, we’re eating mostaccioli and dinner rolls provided by generous volunteers. And due to a long-term partnership with Shiawassee Family YMCA, a van full of milk, eggs, chicken, potatoes and more has arrived to be distributed throughout the neighborhood.

Our work at Shiawassee Hope is focused around building community, and a key component for building community is the Pleasant Valley Impact Center.
We are looking for monthly sponsors for the Pleasant Valley Impact Center. For $500 you can sponsor the Pleasant Valley Impact Center and the work done there. ❤
The Impact Center provides a space for the Pleasant Valley community to gather together over Tuesday night dinners, children to connect to reading supports through the Reading Club, and a general space for resources. The importance of the Impact Center is vital in the community.

It was a beautiful Table Tuesday at Pleasant Valley Impact Center. In addition to a simple meal shared with neighbors, we were also surprised with a visit from Joe Hammontree from the YMCA who brought us a mobile pantry.

This is just another reason why having the Impact Center in this trailer park matters. It has become an important touch point for other agencies to bring resources into this neighborhood where many people do not have transportation.

Shiawassee Hope is proud to share that one of our volunteers and board members has been nominated for the Champion for Children Award by Voices for Children. One of the many ways Mrs. Cami Leland serves children in our community is by providing a weekly reading club at Pleasant Valley Impact Center. Through her efforts, there are children in this neighborhood who are reading well above grade level.

We are unbelievably grateful to the Youth Advisory Council at the Shiawassee Community Foundation for their grant funding to support our pantry at the Impact Center! The empathy and consideration from the youth was obvious in their approval of this funding. Thank you - the funding will go to provide basic needs, food and hygiene items, for folks visiting the Impact Center. 🖤
