At 6:15 this morning, the Oxford Fire Department was alerted to a reported barn fire on Searles Hill Rd. Upon arrival of 2602 (Asst. Chief Ross), he reported a fully involved barn fire. NYSEG was requested to secure the service to the building. 2602 also requested additional tankers added to the box. Bainbridge and Coventry engines arrived on scene prior to our engine, since this was the furthest point in our district in West Bainbridge. Our engine supplied Coventry engine and Sidney's ladder truck. A water supply was established from the Village of Bainbridge, due to low water conditions at local water sources, by Guilford engine. Tankers from Coventry, Bainbridge, Masonville, Trout Creek, McDonough, Sidney, Guilford and our two tankers shuttled water from Bainbridge. Units remained on scene for an extended period of time to extinguish hot spots and perform extensive overhaul. We would like to thank our mutual aid departments, (Bainbridge Fire, Coventry Fire, Sidney Fire, Masonville Fire, Trout Creek Fire, Guilford Fire, McDonough Fire) AMR, Chenango County OES, NYSEG, Chenango County Dispatchers, Oxford Emergency Squad, Oxford CERT, and Greene Fire for providing automatic mutual aid for any second calls in our district.
