The Granville County Board of Commissioners will meet at the Granville County Convention & Expo Center, 4185 Highway 15, Oxford, NC on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. for the regular scheduled work session.

Please note that Commissioner work sessions are informal meetings focused on presentations and discussions. They are held in the smaller meeting room that does not have livestreaming capability. Formal actions and votes occur during regular Commissioner meetings in the auditorium, which are livestreamed on YouTube.

Looking for something fun to do this summer? Look no further than the Granville County Library System and the 2026 Summer Reading Program, "Unearth a Story"!

The fun kicks off next week, so be sure to stop by all four library branches (Berea, South, Stovall, and Thornton) all summer long.

The Board of County Commissioners held a regular meeting on June 1, 2026, at the Granville County Convention and Expo Center.

Highlights of the meeting included:

- Recognizing the Leadership Granville cohort. Leadership Granville is a professional development program sponsored by the Granville County Chamber of Commerce.
- Receiving a presentation on the Granville County Litter Initiative, which will soon launch a new website with litter prevention information, a calendar of events, and information on how witnesses can report littering or other waste disposal issues.
- Moving final consideration of the fiscal year 2026-2027 operating budget to the June 15, 2026, regular meeting and scheduling a budget work session for June 8, 2026. The work session will begin at 9 AM at the Expo Center.
- Approving a task order with Kittleson and Associates, one of the countyโ€™s on-call engineering providers, to conduct due diligence work on a proposed industrial site in Butner. Funding for this project was provided by a grant from the NC Railroad Company.
- Directing the County Attorney to draft a contract and franchise ordinance for the collection of residential solid waste in unincorporated Granville County for consideration at the June 15, 2026, regular meeting.
- Moving consideration of a contract award for solid waste convenience site operations to the June 15, 2026, regular meeting.
- Appointing Brenda Williamson to the Vance Granville Community College Board of Trustees.
- Appointing James Garrett to the Granville County Social Services Board.

The next meeting of the Board of County Commissioners is a budget work session scheduled for Monday, June 8, at 9:00 a.m. The Board of Commissioners will also have their regularly scheduled work session on Tuesday, June 9, at 9:00 a.m. The next regular business meeting is scheduled for Monday, June 15, at 7:00 p.m. All meetings will be held at the Granville County Convention and Expo Center, located at 4185 US Highway 15, Oxford.

The Granville County Library System Berea Branch Library is participating in the North Carolina Department of Transportation helmet initiative, which supports bicycle helmet usage and promotion of cycling activities in the community.

The Berea Branch has helmets available in various sizes, and helmets can be picked up during the library's normal operating hours (while supplies last). Be sure to check out the bike safety quiz if you stop by!

The Berea Branch Library is located at 1211 US Highway 158, Oxford, and is open Tuesdays 9 AM to 3 PM, Thursdays 1 PM to 7 PM, and Fridays 9 AM to 3 PM.

Granville County Department of Social Services (DSS) will participate in the regional Elder Abuse Awareness and Prevention Day in Warren County on Friday, June 12, from 10 AM to 2 PM. Members of the public are encouraged to attend and wear purple on Monday, June 15.

Most non-emergency county facilities will be closed on Monday, May 25, in observance of the Memorial Day Holiday.

Normal hours of operation will resume on Tuesday, May 26.

Additional county services information:

๐Ÿ—‘๏ธ All Granville County solid waste disposal sites will operate on their normal schedule Memorial Day weekend. All sites will be open normal hours Saturday and Monday and closed on Sunday.

๐Ÿ“– All Granville County Library System branches will be closed Saturday, May 23, through Monday, May 25. Normal hours of operation will resume on Tuesday, May 26.

๐Ÿถ The Granville County Animal Shelter will operate on its normal schedule on Saturday, May 23. It will be closed on Sunday and Monday as usual. In case of emergency, please call 911.
