Please join the law enforcement agencies of the LOU Community and Communicare MS for a free Narcan training event.

Our LOU community is hurting, and we hurt alongside you. The tragic loss of two students this week has deeply impacted our community, and our thoughts are with their families, friends, classmates, and everyone grieving this loss.

In an effort to meet our community where they need us, the Oxford Police Department, Lafayette County Sheriff's Office, and Ole Miss Police are partnering with Communicare MS to host a free community Narcan training on October 1 from 6–7 p.m. at the OPD Training Room, 9 Industrial Park Drive.

Narcan will be provided to all attendees.

This is an opportunity to come together, support one another, and learn a potentially lifesaving skill. No registration required. Everyone is welcome.

As law enforcement officials, we want to be good partners to our community by providing life-saving training and tools. That does not change our commitment to holding people accountable for the possession or distribution of illegal narcotics. Our message remains consistent: Do not use drugs.

The data is clear: illicit narcotics can be deadly. We should not have to experience another tragic loss of life to bring attention to this issue. Accountability and enforcement will continue to be at the forefront of our efforts to fight this epidemic.

👋 MEET US MONDAY

Every Monday, we’re introducing you to the men and women who make up the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office.

We believe getting to know the people behind the badge helps build stronger connections between our office and the community we proudly serve.

Each week, we’ll ask one member of our LCSO team the same three questions:

📍 Where are you from?

⭐ What do you enjoy most about your job?

🤝 What is something you want the public to know about LCSO or Lafayette County?

Get to know the faces behind the badge and the people who work every day to Protect and Serve Lafayette County!

This is Meet Us Monday!

Today we introduce Tony Goolsby! Tony is an Alternate Supervisor in the Lafayette County Detention Center.

📍 Where are you from? Oxford, MS

⭐ What do you enjoy most about your job? Being able to help people deal with their situation when they come into Lafayette County Detention Center. Many people consider it the worst moment of their life when they enter our facility and I am here to help.

🤝 What is something you want the public to know about LCSO or Lafayette County? The correctional officers and staff at the LCDC are here to help the people of Lafayette County - both the public and the inmates in our care.

🚨 COMMUNITY SAFETY: KNOW YOUR 911 ADDRESS

If an emergency happens, every second matters. Do you know the 911 address for your home?

📍 Make sure everyone in your household knows your address and can provide it to a 911 dispatcher.

This is especially important for:
• Children home alone
• Babysitters or visitors
• Elderly family members
• Rural homes with long driveways or multiple entrances

📱 Tip: Save your home address in your phone and make sure it is clearly visible near your home or driveway so emergency responders can locate you quickly.

Know your address. Know what to do. Be prepared.
