🌀 NOR'EASTER APPROACHING: High Winds & Heavy Rain Expected

A severe Nor'easter is forecasted to bring heavy rainfall, damaging wind gusts, and potential coastal flooding to our area.

Quaker Farms Fire Co is prepared to respond during the storm but wants to share some tips to the community on some safety measures to take!

Before the Storm

✅ Secure Outdoor Items: Bring inside or securely tie down lawn furniture, trash cans, patio decorations, and loose yard equipment.
✅ Charge Devices: Charge cell phones, power banks, and medical devices in case high winds cause power outages.
✅ Park Wisely: Avoid parking vehicles directly under large trees, loose branches, or power lines.

During the Storm

🚗 Turn Around, Don't Drown: Never drive through flooded roads or bypass official road closures.
🔌 Generator Safety: High winds can knock out power. If using a portable generator, keep it OUTDOORS ONLY, at least 20 feet away from doors, windows, and vents to prevent deadly carbon monoxide poisoning.
⚡ Downed Power Lines: Treat all fallen trees and wires as live and dangerous. Stay at least 30 feet back and report them immediately.
🏠 Stay Away from Windows: During peak wind gusts, move away from windows to protect against flying debris or falling branches.

For life-threatening emergencies, call 911.

Today, we pause to honor and remember the 343 firefighters, 71 law enforcement officers, 55 military personnel, and thousands of innocent civilians who lost their lives on September 11, 2001.
To the heroes who ran toward danger without hesitation, and to the families who carry their legacy forward every day: we will never forget your sacrifice, your courage, and your devotion to duty.
May we continue to serve our community with the same bravery and unity demonstrated on that fateful morning.
Never Forget. 🇺🇸🚒
