The Oxford Police Department is requesting the public's assistance in locating Calvin Dwight Ware Jr, who was last seen on October 10, 2026 at approximately 10 AM at his residence in Oxford, Alabama.
Ware is 35 years old, 5’8” and around 190 lbs.

Homecoming Safety Reminder.

Over the past weekend, the Oxford Police Department has received several reports of teenagers shooting at homes and vehicles with paintball guns and gel blasters. We understand that these incidents may be related to the traditional “Junior/Senior War” activities associated with Homecoming.

While we want our students to enjoy Homecoming and participate in school traditions, shooting paintballs or gel pellets at homes, vehicles, or people is dangerous and can result in property damage or serious injury.

In some cases, people may be inside the homes or vehicles being targeted. Being unexpectedly struck by a paintball or gel pellet could cause someone to panic, become distracted, or lose control of a vehicle, potentially resulting in a serious crash or injury.

These actions are not harmless pranks. Depending on the circumstances, they may constitute criminal offenses and could result in misdemeanor or felony.

The Oxford Police Department is asking everyone to refrain from these activities and make responsible decisions during Homecoming. If juveniles are identified as participating in these incidents, the Oxford Police Department will take appropriate enforcement action, and the juvenile and their parent or guardian may be held responsible for damages or other costs resulting from their actions.

Parents and guardians, please know where your children are, who they are with, and what they are doing. A few minutes of what may seem like harmless fun can result in serious consequences that could affect a young person's future.

We want everyone to enjoy Homecoming, but we also want everyone to get home safely. Please make good decisions and help us keep Homecoming a safe and positive experience for everyone.

It was a great honor to see Chief Daniel Phipps recognized during his visit to the Southeastern Law Enforcement Executive Development Seminar, where Sgt. Pesnell and Sgt. Austin are attending a weeklong training.
During the visit, Chief Phipps was presented with a letter of congratulations from FBI Director Kashyap Patel on his appointment as Chief of the Oxford Police Department. The letter was presented by Special Agent in Charge Fitzgibbons and personally Signed by Director Patel.
A well-deserved recognition for a dedicated leader who continues to represent the Oxford Police Department and our community with pride.

Mr. Stone has been located and is safe. We would like to thank Anniston Fire Department, Calhoun County EMA, and the 7th Judicial Major Crimes Unit for their assistance.

APD is seeking assistance in locating William Kent Stone. Mr Stone was last confirmed to be seen around 4:42pm on September 11, 2026 on foot in the area of Polkville Dr. on the old Fort McClellan property. Mr. Stone was wearing a blue polo style shirt, khaki shorts, and black shoes. Mr. Stone suffers from dementia. If you have any information on his whereabouts, please notify APD immediately.
