Mark your calendars! The 3rd Annual Battle of the Badges Chili Cook-Off is coming to the Oxford Civic Center on Saturday, August 8, from 1:00–4:00 PM.

Come sample chili prepared by local police and fire departments, vote in the People's Choice competition, enjoy family-friendly activities, and support the Calhoun County Blue Line Foundation.

This event helps support law enforcement agencies throughout Calhoun County while bringing our community together for an afternoon of fun and friendly competition.

Oxford Police Department Makes Arrest in Child Exploitation Investigation.

Following an investigation into cyber tips received from the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC), the Oxford Police Department Criminal Investigations Division and the East Metro Area Crime Center (EMACC) arrested Aubrey Jamaal Butler.

Butler is charged with eight counts of electronic solicitation of a child and one count of production of obscene matter of a minor.

He was booked into the Calhoun County Jail and is being held on a $108,000 bond.

This investigation involved the Oxford Police Department Criminal Investigations Division, EMACC, the 7th Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office Major Crime Unit,the United States Secret Service, the FBI, and the United States Marshals Service.

The case is pending prosecution, and no additional information will be released at this time. The Oxford Police Department remains committed to protecting children and investigating crimes involving the exploitation of minors.

Please join me in congratulating Officer Jacob Strunk on his graduation from the Northeast Alabama Law Enforcement Academy.

Over the past 14 weeks, Officer Strunk has successfully completed the rigorous training required to begin a career in law enforcement, building the foundation of knowledge, skills, and professionalism necessary to serve our community.

As he begins the next phase of his career, Officer Strunk will enter our Field Training Program, where he will receive hands on instruction and mentorship from experienced officers.

Congratulations, Officer Strunk, on this outstanding accomplishment. We are proud to have you as part of the Oxford Police Department and look forward to your continued success.

This has been a difficult week for the city and community of Oxford, yet we must never forget those who we have lost.

The passing of Retired Captain Chip Owens comes close to the anniversary of Captain Steve Palmer. Both dedicated their life to the community and served with pride and loyalty to the citizens of this city.

Today, we remember Captain Steve Palmer on the anniversary of his passing.
Captain Palmer's dedication, leadership, and service to the Oxford Police Department and our community will never be forgotten. We honor his legacy and the lasting impact he made on those who had the privilege of serving alongside him.
