Good Food for Oxford Schools (GFOS) is an program of the Oxford School District in Oxford, Mississippi to improve cafeteria menus and simultaneously educate students and their families. GFOS leverages “farm to school” principles to bring local farm produce into school cafeterias that serve more cooked-from-scratch and fresh menu items. Working in the classroom with students, and with families afte

r school, GFOS teaches the importance of a nutrient-rich diet that utilizes local foods when available. Education includes classroom lessons that link seeds to plants to meals at the elementary level, and the creation of food-themed clubs for students at the middle and high schools. Work with families includes healthy and delicious cooking classes, shared meals, and experiential learning in grocery stores, at farmers markets, and at area farms. Good Food for Oxford Schools increases knowledge of delicious, healthy, fresh, local foods and extends this learning from the classroom to the cafeteria to home.

Join us this week at Central Elementary for another great week of FREE breakfasts and lunches for all children 18 and under! 🍎🥞🌭🍝

This week’s menu includes favorites like BBQ Meatball Subs, Cheeseburgers, Beefy Nacho Grande, Hot Dogs, and Chicken Spaghetti! Breakfast favorites include Sausage Biscuits, Pancakes & Sausage, Chicken Biscuits, and more.

Our first week of FREE Summer Meals starts Monday, June 1st, and we are kicking things off with some delicious favorites! From hamburger steak and gravy to chicken fajitas and cheesy breadsticks, we’ve got breakfast and lunch covered all week long! 😋

Today, we have so much to celebrate! As we close out the 2025–2026 school year, we want to thank every student, staff member, and family who ate with us this year. You are the reason we do what we do, and we are proud to show up every single day for our kids! ❤️🍎

This year, districtwide, we served:
🍳272,754 breakfasts
🍔 385,644 lunches
🍎 67,837 afterschool snacks

🏆 Congratulations to Della Davidson Elementary, our Cafeteria of the Year!

✔️ 98.63% attendance
✔️ 100% staff retention
✔️ 100% ServSafe Certified
✔️ 18.6% net profit
✔️ 10.10% increase in lunch participation from August ‘25-April ‘26
✔️ 7% increase in lunch participation from April ‘25–April ‘26

🏆 Congratulations to our Manager of the Year, Rochell Strickland-Isom, for her outstanding leadership, PERFECT attendance, 100% staff retention, ServSafe certification, and INCREDIBLE growth in lunch participation.

🏆 Congratulations to our Employee of the Year, Maura Bahm, for her dedication, 98% attendance, ServSafe certification, helping train a bilingual employee, and serving our community during the two-week ice storm.

👏 We would also like to recognize our team members with PERFECT attendance this school year:Rochelle Strickland-Isom, Tiffany Adams, Brandy Jenkins, and Whitney Jenkins.

Behind every breakfast served, every lunch tray prepared, and every smiling student is a team of hardworking individuals who show up each day with care, dedication, and heart. From early mornings to busy lunch lines, they do so much more than serve meals — they help fuel learning, support our students, and create a welcoming environment for everyone who walks through the cafeteria doors.

Thank you to our Child Nutrition staff for the kindness you show, the relationships you build, and the countless ways you make a difference every single day. We appreciate all that you do to keep our students happy, healthy, and ready to learn!
