☀️🍎 SCHOOL’S OUT… but FREE meals are IN! 🍔🌮🍕

Our first week of FREE Summer Meals starts Monday, June 1st, and we are kicking things off with some delicious favorites! From hamburger steak and gravy to chicken fajitas and cheesy breadsticks, we’ve got breakfast and lunch covered all week long! 😋

📍 Meals are FREE for anyone 18 and under
📍 Served at Central Elementary School
📍 Breakfast: 7:00 AM – 9:00 AM
📍 Lunch: 10:30 AM – 1:00 PM

Today, we have so much to celebrate! As we close out the 2025–2026 school year, we want to thank every student, staff member, and family who ate with us this year. You are the reason we do what we do, and we are proud to show up every single day for our kids! ❤️🍎

This year, districtwide, we served:
🍳272,754 breakfasts
🍔 385,644 lunches
🍎 67,837 afterschool snacks

🏆 Congratulations to Della Davidson Elementary, our Cafeteria of the Year!

✔️ 98.63% attendance
✔️ 100% staff retention
✔️ 100% ServSafe Certified
✔️ 18.6% net profit
✔️ 10.10% increase in lunch participation from August ‘25-April ‘26
✔️ 7% increase in lunch participation from April ‘25–April ‘26

🏆 Congratulations to our Manager of the Year, Rochell Strickland-Isom, for her outstanding leadership, PERFECT attendance, 100% staff retention, ServSafe certification, and INCREDIBLE growth in lunch participation.

🏆 Congratulations to our Employee of the Year, Maura Bahm, for her dedication, 98% attendance, ServSafe certification, helping train a bilingual employee, and serving our community during the two-week ice storm.

Today we celebrate our incredible School Lunch Heroes! 🍎🦸‍♀️🦸‍♂️

Behind every breakfast served, every lunch tray prepared, and every smiling student is a team of hardworking individuals who show up each day with care, dedication, and heart. From early mornings to busy lunch lines, they do so much more than serve meals — they help fuel learning, support our students, and create a welcoming environment for everyone who walks through the cafeteria doors.

Thank you to our Child Nutrition staff for the kindness you show, the relationships you build, and the countless ways you make a difference every single day. We appreciate all that you do to keep our students happy, healthy, and ready to learn!

Our 3K & 4K students at Oxford Early Childhood Center had the BEST day planting tomato seeds! 🍅🌱

They learned all about what a seed needs to grow—soil, water, sunlight, and air—and had so much fun connecting it to foods they already love like spaghetti sauce, pizza sauce, salsa, and of course… ketchup! 🍝🍕🥫🥗

To top it all off, students got to tour the greenhouse and see where their plants will continue to grow. A huge THANK YOU to the Oxford Horticulture/FFA class for sharing their space and for taking care of our tomato plants over the next two months. We can’t wait to see how much they grow! 🌿💚

After two long weeks off because of the ice storm, we’re finally back—and we need ALL the love and support you can give! 🥰❄️

Our cafeteria team is excited to welcome students back with some favorite meals this week, including cheeseburgers, chicken alfredo, tacos, corn dog nuggets, chicken & waffles, chicken ranch wraps, and pizza. And don't forget Breakfast is FREE for all students! 🙌

And to end the week on a sweet note, we’ll be serving a Valentine cookie on Friday ❤️🍪

Thank you for supporting school meals and our hardworking staff as we get back into our routine. We can’t wait to see our students back in the lunch line! 💙💛

This week, our Computer Science students had a sensational time during a sensory scavenger hunt in the Bramlett Garden! 👀👂👃✋👅 They explored the five senses while connecting with nature and discovering how observation and curiosity play a role in learning.🕵️

👀 We saw colorful flowers and busy bugs!
👂 We heard birds chirping and leaves rustling in the wind!
👃 We smelled herbs and the sweet garden blooms!
✋ We felt the soil and the crunch of the leaves!
👅 And we tasted the persimmons growing in our garden!

We also had the opportunity to plant tulip bulbs generously donated by Meagan Campos with Lady Bear Gardens — thank you for helping our students make the garden even more beautiful! 🌷💙💛
