To the business owners, friends, and residents I’ve had the privilege of getting to know over the years who have noticed my absence, I wanted to personally address the situation.
On July 14, First Selectman George Temple terminated my employment with the Town of Oxford, ending my service as Economic Development Coordinator.
This has been a difficult time for me and my family. Like many of you, I dedicated myself to serving this community because I care deeply about the town I call home.
Last year, I chose to run for First Selectman because I believed Oxford would benefit from new ideas, greater transparency, and a different vision for Oxford's future. I understood that running for public office would bring political disagreements. I did not expect that, after the election, my employment with the Town would also end.
I want to be clear: I am proud that I ran for office, and I would make that same decision again. I believe participating in our democratic process is both a right and a responsibility. No one should feel they have to choose between seeking public office and earning a living.
While I am disappointed by how my employment ended, my commitment to Oxford has not changed. I remain grateful for the support I received throughout the campaign and for the many residents, friends, and local business owners who have continued to reach out with words of encouragement.
At this time, I am considering my options and, out of respect for that process, I will have no further comment.
To everyone who has called, texted, stopped me around town, or otherwise reached out to offer support—thank you. Your kindness, encouragement, and friendship have meant more to me and my family than words can express.
