⚠️UPDATE 1:00pm 6/22/2026 ⚠️

Kansas Turnpike Authority has reopened the southbound lanes on the Kansas Turnpike. This should alleviate the additional traffic coming into Oxford. Please continue to be aware of road closures around the area until all flood waters have receded.

⚠️ ROAD CLOSURE UPDATE ⚠️

South Oxford Road is currently closed at 80th Road south due to flooding from Slate Creek. At this time, only local traffic will be allowed through.

If you need to travel south of Highway 160, please use:
➡️ Highway 77 through Winfield, or
➡️ Highway 81 through Wellington.

All roads between Oxford and Wellington that travel south off Highway 160 are currently closed as well.

A huge thank you to Officer Perry and Officer Morris, who have spent many hours last night and throughout this morning directing traffic and helping keep our community safe during these flooding conditions.

Please note that the Kansas Turnpike remains closed southbound at Mile Marker 4.

Never drive around barricades or through flooded roadways. Turn around, don't drown.

We will provide updates as conditions change.

5.29 inches of rain fell here in Oxford overnight.

Several roads across Sumner County are experiencing flooding, including portions of the Kansas Turnpike.

Heavy rainfall has led to flash flooding concerns in the area, and motorists are urged to use extreme caution. If you need to travel this morning, check road conditions before heading out and never drive through flooded roadways.

Stay safe.
