Today, we were honored to welcome the riders of the Ron Helus Ride for the Blue to the Oxnard Police Department during their annual lunch stop.

The Ride for the Blue is a motorcycling event that honors the life and legacy of Ventura County Sheriff's Sergeant Ron Helus, who was killed in the line of duty in 2018 while responding to the Borderline Bar & Grill tragedy in Thousand Oaks. Each year, riders raise awareness and support - honoring law enforcement officers and their families, while remembering those who have made the ultimate sacrifice. [ www.ridefortheblue.com ]

We are grateful to the organizers, volunteers, support teams, and riders who continue this meaningful tradition. Their dedication serves as a powerful reminder of the strength of the law enforcement community and the importance of honoring those who have given so much in service to others.

Thank you for stopping by, and safe travels as you continue your journey.

Considering an e-bike to get around town? Remember, all e-bikes have pedals. Removing or replacing pedals with pegs turns your e-bike into something completely different, and likely illegal. There are three classes of e-bikes (Class I, II, and III). California Vehicle Code section 21213(a) requires riders of Class III e-bikes to be 16 years or older. Section 21213(b) requires all riders of Class III e-bikes to wear a helmet, regardless of age. Pictured below was once a Class III e-bike. The pedals were replaced with pegs, keeping the "electric," while removing the "bicycle." The rider was under 16 and not wearing a helmet. California Vehicle Code section 22651.08(a) authorizes a 48-hour impoundment for violations of 21213(a) (mentioned above). Parents may also be subject to citation for allowing their children (under 16) to operate Class III e-bikes.

Fireworks Are Illegal in the City of Oxnard.
While we all know fireworks are disturbing to our neighbors and military veterans with PTSD in our community, fireworks also cause serious distress for pets and animals in our neighborhoods. Every year, the Ventura County Animal Services shelter sees a spike in lost and frightened pets — some never make it back home.
Loud explosions trigger panic in animals, leading to injuries, anxiety, or even escape. This not only puts our furry friends at risk but also places an enormous strain on our already overburdened shelter staff and resources.
Let’s keep our community safe and compassionate:
Celebrate legally, safely, responsibly, and respectfully.
HOW TO REPORT FIREWORKS:
- Fireworks Cell Phone Line (805-307-6308) Dedicated line specifically for fireworks complaints carried by an NPT officer while on duty to take down specific information of problematic locations where fireworks are occurring.
- Fireworks Tips via Email ([email protected]) Please provide specific information regarding locations, days, and times
- Fireworks Hotline (805-394-5884) Callers can remain anonymous.
- Oxnard Police Department Non-Emergency Number (805-385-7740) Use for reporting fireworks activity in progress. Please recognize that fireworks calls are prioritized based on other calls for service pending throughout the city.
Thank you for helping us protect our pets, our neighbors, and our city.
