Please remind your neighbors and loved-ones to complete the census for their household! Especially young adults (maybe living on their own for the first time), elderly loved ones, and friends living in rural areas.

Getting an accurate population count of our community will ensure that a fair share of the taxes we pay to the federal government will come back to our community rather than being given to other areas of the country.

The U.S. Census Bureau has announced that September 30, 2020 is now the final date for responding to the census. Note: This new deadline is a full month earlier than before. Self-responding is the easiest way to make sure you are counted! It is quick, easy, and can be done online at my2020census.gov or over the phone by dialing 844-330-2020. Households do not need an ID code to respond to the Census online or by phone. Making sure you are counted now is the easiest way to ensure an enumerator does not knock on your door in the future. Vital Christian County Resources depend on an accurate count!

How the Census Helps You

The 2020 Census will be extremely important for every part of Christian County, which is why the county and municipal government agencies, chambers of commerce, school districts, and leaders of all organizations across Christian County have united to create and support Christian County Counts. Christian County Counts is what the US Census Bureau refers to as a “Complete Count Committee”. The aim of this committee is to communicate a coordinated and unified message encouraging all Christian County residents to participate in the 2020 Census. Why? Because a complete population count benefits all of us.

How will a complete census count benefit Christian County? The census data determines how over $675 billion in federal funds are distributed annually. The data impacts your representation in government, how local government agencies levy taxes, and the quality of a host of services: water, streets, electricity, fire protection, police services, health care, and education. It helps communities plan for current and future needs. It determines areas eligible for government assistance and distribution of funding to support areas with greater needs.

We need you to not only complete the census for your household, but to help us spread the facts about the census to reach individuals in our community who may be hard to reach. The people who are hardest to reach and count are those who will likely benefit most from being counted. Please like and follow our page to learn more about the census, and please share our posts with your Christian County neighbors!
