THE FRANKLIN COUNTY SHERIFFS DEPARTMENT IS CHARGED WITH THE ENFORCEMENT OF ALL STATE LAWS WITH-IN THE COUNTY BORDERS. THE DEPARTMENT ALSO HOUSES ALL COUNTY AND CITY PRISONERS, AS WELL AS STATE PRISONERS WAITING TO GO TO THE STATE PRISON SYSTEM (SENTENCED IN FRANKLIN COUNTY). THE SHERIFFS OFFICE IS ALSO AN ASSISTING AGENCY FOR OTHER DEPARTMENTS INSIDE THE COUNTY.
