🚒 Are You Thinking About a Career in Firefighting? 🚒

The fire service is facing a nationwide need for qualified firefighters as departments across the country work to fill vacancies and prepare for future retirements. Emergency call volumes continue to increase while many departments are experiencing a decline in applicants, creating opportunities for those looking to begin a rewarding and meaningful career.

Ozark Fire & Rescue is currently hiring both certified and non-certified firefighter candidates!

Did you know that Ozark Fire & Rescue is certified through the Alabama Fire College to host recruit school right here in Ozark? That means eligible candidates may have the opportunity to complete their firefighter training locally while beginning their career with our department.

Before interviewing with Ozark Fire & Rescue or qualifying for recruit school, applicants must successfully complete the Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT).

The CPAT is a nationally recognized physical agility test designed to evaluate the strength, endurance, and stamina required for the fire service. Participants complete a series of job-related tasks while wearing a weighted vest that simulates firefighter gear. Events include stair climbing, hose dragging, equipment carrying, ladder raises, forcible entry simulation, search and rescue activities, ceiling breach and pull exercises, and victim rescue drags.

Successfully completing the CPAT demonstrates that a candidate is physically prepared for the demands of firefighter training and emergency response operations.

🚒 NOW HIRING – CERTIFIED & NON-CERTIFIED FIREFIGHTERS 🚒

Ozark Fire & Rescue is accepting applications for dedicated individuals who are ready to serve their community and answer the call.

We are currently seeking both certified and non-certified firefighter candidates. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age, possess a valid driver's license, and be a high school graduate or hold a GED. Non-certified applicants must obtain Alabama EMT-Basic certification within one year of employment. Applicants must also meet all City of Ozark and Ozark Fire & Rescue employment standards, including chemical screening, aptitude testing, a background investigation, and successful completion of the Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT).

As part of our hiring process, candidates must successfully complete the CPAT prior to interviewing. The CPAT is a nationally recognized physical agility test designed to evaluate the physical abilities required to perform essential firefighter duties.

A reminder that Ozark Fire & Rescue Station 3 is home to a Safe Haven Baby Box, available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Under Alabama's Safe Haven law, a parent may legally and anonymously surrender an infant 45 days old or younger at a designated Safe Haven location when they are unable to provide care.

The Safe Haven Baby Box provides a safe, secure, and anonymous option during a time of crisis, with firefighters immediately alerted when the box is used.

📢 STARS & SHIELDS CLASSIC UPDATE 📢

The Stars & Shields Classic softball tournament originally scheduled for June 20 has been postponed and will be rescheduled for a later date.

As planning continued, it became clear that postponing the event would provide the best opportunity to ensure a successful tournament for the participating agencies, our community, and the Ozark Police Department Animal Shelter. Rather than moving forward under less-than-ideal circumstances, we have chosen to take additional time to make this event everything we know it can be.

We are incredibly grateful for the support already shown by our community, sponsors, vendors, volunteers, and everyone who planned to attend. The enthusiasm surrounding this event has been outstanding, and we remain committed to making the Stars & Shields Classic a fun, meaningful, and annual tradition

This is a postponement—not a cancellation—and we look forward to announcing a new date in the near future.

🥎 TOURNAMENT UPDATE 🥎

As we continue getting closer to the first annual Stars and Shields Classic Softball Tournament, we wanted to share a few updates!

Unfortunately, the Ozark Police Department will not be able to participate in this year’s tournament due to scheduling and staffing needs. We completely understand the demands that come with public safety service and appreciate their support of the event. We are hopeful this tournament becomes an annual tradition and would love to see them involved next year!

That being said — the tournament is STILL ON and we are excited for a great day of softball, community involvement, and friendly competition supporting a great cause.

Now before anyone says it… yes, we know Eagle Stadium is an absolute monster of a field 😅

To keep things fair and fun for everyone, we would have a designated homerun line set up in the outfield for derby participants.
